The visit of the beautiful city of Cuenca includes places such as the picturesque and traditional neighborhood of San Sebastián, the Museum of Modern Art, Calderón Park (central park), The Plaza de las Flores, The Cathedral of the Sagrario (Old Cathedral), Immaculate Conception Cathedral (New Cathedral) considered the largest in Latin America. Also included is a visit to a famous Straw Hat Factory Toquilla, where the elaboration of the finest hats is observed. -
Plaza Rotary - We will visit the Plaza Rotary, famous for the different crafts such as basketry, wooden furniture and ceramics (the famous ceramics
made with the ancestral technique of Jatumpamba) This is a place where interaction and conversation mark the human rhythm; where he haggling, which more than the price reduction seeks dialogue, complicity and friendship. - Eduardo Vega Galeria Taller - To learn the secrets of pottery we attended the workshop of Mr. Iván Encalada, who is a well-known potter from Cuenca who welcomes us in his colonial style house full of patios, backyards and orchards. For an hour he will teach us basic techniques to shape clay and make decorative pieces that vary depending on your individual tastes and interests.
We will also visit the Workshop of the famous Cuencano ceramist Eduardo Vega located in the famous “Mirador de Turi” where the landscape of a valley full of red roofs and blue domes is framed by towering mountains. Return to the hotel.

Fantastic way to get to... - Fantastic way to get to know a little more about Cuenca and as a solo traveler, it was very customizable. Food was excellent.

False Advertising - You don't get to keep the piece you create - To Costly for Encalada Pottery to Process - The ticket clearly states and warns passengers wishing to take the finished piece home that it takes three days for processing. We made a plan, with the owner, to go back in three days and paid for a taxi to Encalada Pottery to pick up our pieces. Further we were on a private tour. The owner wrote us through Whatsapp, stating that they can't do the drying and burning for just two pieces as they need to fill the kiln to keep the cost of using it affordable. See attached WhatsApp convo. Then Encalada Pottery said that we could go back and pay $15 each to have a demo and get our pieces. This was already paid for through Viator. I'm requesting a refund of $30 for falsely advertising we would receive the piece we created.
