Cruising Curaçao: A Beach Buggy Adventure to Remember
When the opportunity to explore Curaçao’s beaches by buggy came up, I couldn’t resist. With the promise of sun, sand, and sea turtles, this adventure was calling my name. Join me as I recount a day filled with stunning shores, local flavors, and the laid-back island vibe that makes Curaçao so special.
A Bumpy Start to a Day of Adventure
The day began with a bit of a hiccup, as our driver was delayed due to traffic. But hey, island time is a real thing, and I was more than happy to embrace the laid-back vibe of Curaçao. After all, what’s a few extra minutes when you’re about to embark on an epic beach-hopping adventure? Once we were all gathered, our group of nine was ready to hit the road. Our guide, Carine, was a gem from the start, making sure everyone was comfortable and ready for the day ahead.
The buggy situation was a bit of a surprise, as one of the vehicles was out of commission. But Carine handled it like a pro, offering to drive some of us in her van while others took turns in the buggy. It was a perfect example of going with the flow, something I’ve learned to appreciate in my years of surfing and traveling. With everyone settled, we set off on our journey, the wind in our hair and the promise of beautiful beaches ahead.
Exploring Curaçao’s Stunning Shores
Our first stop was Cas Abou, a beach that truly lived up to its reputation. The turquoise waters were inviting, and the soft sand felt like a dream underfoot. Carine had thoughtfully brought along beach chairs, so we could relax and soak in the sun. With a cold drink in hand, I took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Caribbean, a place that never fails to capture my heart.
Next up was Jeremy Beach, followed by Klein Knip. Each beach had its own unique charm, and I found myself falling in love with the island all over again. The snorkeling opportunities were fantastic, with vibrant marine life just waiting to be discovered beneath the waves. As someone who spends a lot of time in the ocean, I couldn’t resist diving in to explore the underwater world.
A Taste of Local Flavor
Our lunch stop at Playa Forti Restaurant was a highlight of the day. The food was a delightful mix of local flavors, with options to suit everyone’s tastes. I opted for the goat stew, a dish that was both hearty and delicious. For those with dietary restrictions, Carine ensured there were alternative options available, showcasing the island’s culinary diversity.
The final stop of the day was Playa Piskado, where we had the chance to see turtles swimming near the pier. It was a magical sight, watching these graceful creatures glide through the water. While the beach itself wasn’t ideal for swimming, the experience of seeing the turtles up close was unforgettable.
As the day came to a close, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to explore Curaçao in such a unique way. The Beach Hopping Tour was everything I hoped it would be and more, a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and local culture. If you’re looking for a way to experience the island’s natural beauty, I highly recommend giving it a try.
