Cusco - The journey begins with an early morning departure from Cusco, traveling in a private vehicle through stunning Andean valleys and traditional rural communities. The first stop is at the pre-Inca Lupaca burial towers, followed by a visit to the charming colonial town of Paucartambo, where the small yet captivating museum is explored.
The drive continues to the lush Cloud Forest, where lunch is enjoyed amidst nature. This area is home to unique endemic species, including orchids, bromeliads, ferns, the Andean spectacled bear, and the iconic Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru’s national bird, renowned for its vibrant mating display.
After observing wildlife along the route, the descent towards the tropical foothills leads to Pilcopata Lodge, where the first night is spent.

Pilcopata – Amazon Manu Lodge (450 m)

Manu National Park - Following an early breakfast, a visit to a local coca plantation and a small wildlife rescue center is on the agenda. The journey continues to the port of Atalaya (500 m), located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River.
Here, a motorized boat is boarded to navigate downstream, observing herons, vultures, cormorants, and other Amazon birdlife along the riverbanks.
Arrival at Amazon Manu Lodge is greeted with a freshly prepared lunch. In the afternoon, a hike through the jungle to Machuwasi Lagoon takes place, where traditional wooden rafts are boarded to search for birds such as the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin, and with luck, caimans, monkeys, and capybaras.

Amazon Manu Lodge – Cusco

Cusco - Early in the morning, a boat trip to the Parrot and Macaw Clay Lick (Collpa) is undertaken—a natural clay wall where species like the Blue-headed Parrot, White-eyed Parakeet, and Chestnut-fronted Macaw gather daily to feed on mineral-rich clay that aids in toxin elimination.
After witnessing this vibrant wildlife spectacle, a return to the lodge for breakfast occurs, followed by packing and a boat ride back to Atalaya. The vehicle awaits for the final journey back to Cusco.
A stop is made en route for lunch, with an expected arrival in the city around 6:30 pm.
