Nevado Ausangate - Post-lunch, we embark on a two-hour uphill trek to the Arapa Pass (4,800 m / 15,748 ft), followed by a three and a half hour descent to Hatun Pucacocha Lake, where our campsite is situated. Along the way, you’ll also admire Yanacocha Lake. You’ll find yourself at the base of the magnificent Ausangate Mountain, marveling at its immense and stunning icy peak.
Upon reaching the camp, you can enjoy a hot chocolate or coffee, and later, dinner will be served. It’s then time to retire for a well-deserved rest.
Hatun Pucacocha - Pucacocha Pass - Anantapata - Surinecocha Camp
Vinicunca Mountain - We then descend for an hour and a half to Anantapata, our lunch destination, for another scrumptious meal, followed by a two-hour ascent to the Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,354 ft). From this vantage point, you’ll gain a new perspective of the sacred Ausangate Mountain, the Rainbow Mountain, and the vast Vilcanota mountain range.
Next, we descend for an hour to Surinecocha (4,800 m / 15,748 ft), where our camp is located. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a hot beverage to warm you up. Vinicunca Mountain - Prepare for another early start as the trek reaches its peak. After a revitalizing breakfast, we’ll set out to explore the renowned Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain. We’ll ascend for two hours to the pass at 5,100 m / 16,732 ft. From here, you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the magnificent Rainbow Mountain, a sight so surreal it feels like a dream crafted by Mother Nature!
Our guide will share insights into the uniqueness of these mountains. The vibrant colors are due to sedimentary layers of minerals exposed by erosion. This phenomenon is only visible in two places worldwide: Peru and China. Take the opportunity to connect with the mountain’s energy and relish this extraordinary landscape.
Cusco - After ample time admiring the surreal scenery, we’ll walk for an hour to Llacto, where a delicious lunch awaits. We’ll conclude our day and epic adventure with a 3-hour drive in our private transport, dropping you off at your accommodation’s doorstep in Cusco.
