Depending on the chosen schedule, the operator will either pick guests up from their hotel (within the urban area of Cusco) or meet them at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. The tour may start with an optional visit to the Coricancha Temple.
The city tour in Cusco kicks off with a visit to the Sacsayhuamán fortress, one of the most iconic Inca structures, offering a stunning view of nearly the entire city. The tour continues to Qenqo, an archaeological site primarily used for ceremonial and astronomical purposes. 2. Sacsayhuaman
Sacsayhuamán was an ancient Inca fortress located in Cusco, Peru, serving as an important religious and ceremonial center. Its construction is believed to have started during Pachacútec’s reign and continued under his successors. The fortress, constructed with massive stone blocks, featured stepped walls, storage facilities, and possibly temples.
3. Tambomachay
For the Incas, Tambomachay was a sacred site, functioning as a spa and resting place for the Inca and his entourage, as well as a ceremonial center dedicated to water worship.
