- Top family experience in Cuzco!!
We went with our two children (7 &10) and got to see up close condors, eagles, pumas, the "oso de anteojos' known in the UK as Paddington bear! monkeys, turtles, lamas, vicuñas, tucan, parrots, and more!
The guides were super knowledgeable and friendly. We paid for the animal encounter which allowed us to feed the animals.
The proceeds go towards the rehabilitation of the animals and to re-introduce them into the wild.
It was interesting to hear the stories of how the animals were rescued and how they are recovering.

Animal Sanctuary - What an excellent place for these animals. The sanctuary takes good care of the animals and you can tell the animals are very comfortable with their caretakers. The sanctuary helps give these animals a safe place to heal and get well with hopes of returning to the wild.

A truly inspiring experience - Visiting the Cochahiasi Animal Sanctuary was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Peru. Nestled in a peaceful setting, this sanctuary is a haven for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and illegal trafficking. The passion and dedication of the team are evident from the moment you arrive.
What sets Cochahiasi apart is its commitment not only to care but also to reintroduce animals back into the wild whenever possible. They work tirelessly to rehabilitate animals, preparing them for a second chance at life in their natural habitats. For those who cannot be released, the sanctuary offers lifelong care in a safe and enriching environment.
The tour was incredibly insightful. Every animal has a name, a story, and a personality — and you get to learn them all. Hearing about their journeys and seeing the impact the sanctuary has made was both heartbreaking and uplifting.
What makes the experience even more meaningful is knowing that your entrance fee and any donations go directly toward supporting the animals and the sanctuary’s incredible conservation work. It’s a place where your visit truly makes a difference.
If you’re looking to connect with nature, support a worthy cause, and witness the resilience of animals firsthand, I can’t recommend Cochahiasi Animal Sanctuary enough.

Highly Recommend - Joseph took us through the entire sanctuary! He knows the animals so well and their primary goal is always reintroduction when possible. We were so impressed with the care these special animals receive! Cannot recommend enough! Your entrance fees go directly towards feeding, bring extra soles for donation, they are so appreciative.

The closest you're likely to get to a condor - Really helpful and informative staff, had a quick tour, then time to look around by ourselves. Amazing to see (and in some cases touch!) these birds and animals up close and see the care the staff take with them. An easy Uber drive there and back from Cusco.

Definitely visit if you have a few hours in Cusco! - This is a family owned private sanctuary and you can really tell the animals are very happy and looked after. Our guide Alberto had amazing English and spoke about the sad stories behind the animals and their plans on how to conserve the species and release them back into the wild if it’s safe. Very interactive experience feeding Llamas , Alpacas, deer, parrots, and even doing an enrichment activity with the monkeys. If you are in Cusco I fully recommend it. On GetYourGuide you can pay and they come and pick you up, includes the tour and then drop you off afterwards.

Amazing - A highlight in our trip: seeing so many beautiful animals being treated the way they should be. The workers visibly give them so much love and are very passionate and involved with every single animal. Will never forget our visit!!! Thank you Alberto for your explanations and guiding us. We got the opportunity to feed alpaca’s, monkeys, parrots and more…

Best day in Cusco - I spent 10 days in Cusco and this was by far my favourite day out. 10/10 visit, loved every second!
My guide was very knowledgable about each individual animal, knowing their back story and what will happen to them in the future.
I love their mission, they want the animals to be free if possible and back into the wild. If this isn’t possible they’ll live a happy life at the sanctuary.
They have so many animals at the moment including the mighty condor, pumas, parrots, bears, coati, llamas, alpacas, deer, even a toucan! You can get up close and personal without stressing the animal out so this is the most ethical animal attraction ever!
I got the bus from Cusco town which was really easy and only cost 9 soles round trip (details on the bus on their website main page). It takes about half an hour. If you don’t want to get the bus I think an uber or taxi wouldn’t be that much. I also heard you can visit here with get your guide website (and probably trip advisor).
There is also a cafe and gift shop here - some of the proceeds from the gift shop go towards the sanctuary so I got my souvenirs here.
This place definitely deserves more visitors and support, they do amazing work! I think this place is suitable for everyone, kids and adults should love it! I think it was quite accessible also, a few stairs in places but generally good for accessibility.
