Cuncani - The day’s journey begins at 6:00 AM when private transportation and a guide will arrive at your hotel in Cusco to embark on a 3.5-hour drive to the starting point, Cuncani. Here, mules/horses and porters will be met before commencing a gradual 2.5-hour ascent through vibrant landscapes, where llamas, alpacas, and viscachas can be spotted, along with breathtaking views of mountain lakes and glaciers. After a 4-hour trek, the small village of Cancha Cancha (3,800 m) will be reached for an overnight stay.

Lares - Following a warm breakfast, the ascent begins for an hour to Puca Cocha Pass at 4530 m above sea level (14862 ft elevation). Upon reaching the pass, a rare view of the Lares Valley and its mountains can be enjoyed before a gradual descent, followed by another ascent to Palchayoq at 4350 m (14862 ft), where a diverse range of regional wildlife can be observed. The journey continues with an ascent to Mantanay Pass at 4660 m (15289 ft). From the pass, a spectacular view of the Auroray lagoon is visible, where a tent will be set up nearby for lunch. After lunch, a gradual ascent to the Wayruruyoq Pass (4690 m or 15387 ft) follows, before descending to the campsite at Ccancao (4430 m or 14534 ft).

Ollantaytambo - After breakfast, the descent continues past herds of llamas and alpacas, with majestic views of valleys and ravines, through fields of crops like potatoes, corn, and quinoa, until reaching Marcacocha, where private transport will be waiting to take you to the town of Ollantaytambo. Lunch will be enjoyed there before boarding the train to Machu Picchu town.

Machu Picchu Pueblo to Cusco

Machu Picchu - After breakfast at the hotel, the guide will arrive to lead you to the bus station for a trip to the Machu Picchu archaeological site. The drive to the control point takes approximately 25 minutes, where entry to one of the world’s great wonders begins, with a guided tour of the most remarkable locations within the Machu Picchu archaeological complex. This maximum expression of Inca architecture can be appreciated with a private professional guide for about 3 hours. The return to Machu Picchu Pueblo (also known as Aguas Calientes) is by bus, followed by a train ride back to Ollantaytambo, where private transport will be ready to take you to your hotel in Cusco.
