We will pause for lunch near the high-Andean Cancha Cancha community, offering an authentic cultural immersion: visit the local school and learn about the families’ agricultural traditions.
Final Climb and Starry Camp The afternoon ends with a final gradual two-hour ascent, passing by the beautiful Ríos Waterfalls, until reaching our campsite in Cancha Cancha (12,631 ft / 3,850 m). Upon arrival, our team will greet you with hot tea. The day concludes with dinner.
ACCOPATA - PASO PACHACUTEC - CCOYALAY CCOCHA - QUISHUARANI
Lares - Your day begins at Accopata camp (12,631 ft). After breakfast, tackle the biggest challenge: a strenuous 3-hour ascent toward Pachacutec Pass (15,420 ft). The view from the top is magnificent, featuring the snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray and Sahuasiray. At the summit, your guide will perform a spiritual offering ceremony to the Apus.
Next, begin a 2-hour descent to the stunning Qoyalayccocha Lagoon (12,795 ft), where lunch will be served. In the afternoon, the final 2-hour hike leads to the Quishuarani camp (12,103 ft).
The day ends with an authentic cultural immersion: visit a local family to learn about their agricultural traditions. Finally, enjoy dinner and, potentially, view the Andean constellations, concluding an epic day of nature, spirituality, and connection.
QUISHUARANI - HUILLCACCASA PASS - CUNCANI - LARES HOT SPRING - OLLANTAYTAMBO
Lares - The day starts with breakfast at Quishuarani (12,103 ft) before a challenging 2-hour ascent to the final hurdle: Willcaccasa Pass (14,399 ft). The summit offers spectacular views of the Andes and turquoise lagoons.
After the pass, begin a long descent, stopping briefly in the village of Cuncani (11,811 ft) before continuing for three hours to the Lares Hot Springs. The physical effort is rewarded with relaxation in these medicinal thermal waters, perfect for muscle recovery.
After lunch and a heartfelt farewell to your trekking team (horsemen, chef, and porters), take a 3-hour private van ride to Ollantaytambo (9,160 ft). Enjoy dinner in the “Last Living Inca City” before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes (6,692 ft). Upon arrival, check into your hotel, rest, and prepare for the ultimate goal: Machu Picchu.
MACHU PICCHU- OLLANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO
Lares - Today is a wonderful day, as it is finally time to visit Machu Picchu: After an early breakfast at your hotel, carry only your backpack with essentials. The hotel will store your luggage while you explore Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu takes approximately 25 minutes. Once at Machu Picchu, the guide will provide a two-hour tour. During this guided tour, learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. There will also be ample time to explore independently. It is recommended to return to Aguas Calientes no later than 2 hours before the train’s departure. The return train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes approximately 2 hours. In Ollantaytambo, our staff will be waiting to take you back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
Huayna Picchu - Huayna Picchu, meaning young mountain, is located at 2,660 m.a.s.l./8,724 ft. in the Cusco region. Its circular base is surrounded by the Vilcanota River on the north side of the Machu Picchu citadel. Its construction must have been challenging and extremely dangerous: it is a very steep and narrow path, which includes several stretches with stairs carved into the living rock at the edge of the vertical rock wall. It takes 45 minutes to reach the top of the mountain, and the return descent takes 45 minutes.
