CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY - LARES HOT SPRINGS - QUISHUARANI
Lares - Guests will be collected from their hotel around 5 am to commence the journey from Lares to Machu Picchu. Pick-up locations include any specified point such as a hotel or apartment in Cusco, Urubamba, or Pisaq. Following the pick-up, there will be a 2-hour tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas leading to the town of Lares. Upon arrival, guests can enjoy the thermal baths. After relaxing in the medicinal baths, a delightful breakfast will be served.
Post-breakfast, the tour continues with a 15-minute transport to the village of Cuncani. From there, a 2-hour hike begins. Upon reaching Quishuarani, a chef will be ready with a delicious lunch.
After lunch, another 2-hour walk will lead to the camp. Upon arrival, the chef will greet guests with a warm cup of tea.
QUISHUARANI - PASO PACHACUTEC - ACOPATA - CANCHA CANCHA
Lares - The day begins at 5:00 am with a wake-up call and a hot cup of tea from the guide. Guests will have 30 minutes to prepare their belongings before enjoying breakfast. After breakfast, a 4-hour uphill hike to the Pachacutec pass (4700 m/15267 ft) begins, offering stunning landscapes and the company of llamas, sheep, and alpacas. A 2-hour descent follows, leading to the lunch spot amidst beautiful scenery and blue lagoons.
The adventure continues with another 2-hour descent to the camp at Cancha Cancha. Upon arrival, tents will be ready, accompanied by a hot drink to enjoy the mountain views. There will be time to interact with the local community, appreciate the alpacas and llamas, and visit the local school. The night sky is expected to be clear and beautiful.
CANCHA CANCHA - HUARAN - MARAS SALT MINES - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUAS CALIENTES
Lares - Day 3 starts with a delicious breakfast prepared by the chef of Aliperutreks. A 4-hour downhill hike from Cancha Cancha to the Sacred Valley follows. Before the hike, guests will visit local homes to learn about Andean potato production. After engaging with the community, the hike to the Sacred Valley begins, where corn is the primary agricultural product.
The tour concludes in the small village of Huaran. From there, a private bus will take guests to the Maras salt mines. After visiting the salt mines, the journey continues with a 1-hour bus ride to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo, guests will explore the town, known as the only living Inca village. Before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes, dinner will be enjoyed at a local restaurant, followed by a 7:00 pm train ride to Aguas Calientes, where guests will stay overnight in a 3-star hotel.
MACHU PICCHU - OLLANTAYTAMBO - CUSCO
Lares - Today is a special day, as it is time to visit Machu Picchu. After an early breakfast at the hotel, guests will only need to carry a backpack with essentials. The hotel will store luggage while guests explore Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu takes about 25 minutes. Once there, a guide will provide a 2-hour tour, sharing insights into the history and culture of the Inca Empire. Guests will also have ample time to explore independently. It is recommended to return to Aguas Calientes at least 2 hours before the train’s departure. The return train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes approximately 2 hours. In Ollantaytambo, staff will be ready to transport guests back to Cusco and drop them off at their hotel.
Huayna Picchu - Huayna Picchu, meaning “young mountain,” is situated at 2,660 m.a.s.l./8,724 ft. in the Cusco region. Its circular base is bordered by the Vilcanota River on the north side of the Machu Picchu citadel. The construction of the path was likely challenging and perilous, featuring a steep and narrow trail with sections of stairs carved into the rock along the edge of a vertical rock wall. It takes 45 minutes to reach the mountain’s summit, with a 45-minute descent back down.

We will trek amidst alpacas and llamas, under the Andes’ foothills, with breathtaking views of lakes and glaciers. This alternative Lares Trek route also includes a visit to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. On the third day, we will visit the therapeutic hot springs, a well-deserved reward after completing the trekking portion of the Lares route.
