Manu jungle tour - The four day excursion was a nice way to get an appreciation of the Peruvian jungle with various activities. Our tour guide, Fray, was particularly helpful with helping us spot wildlife we wouldn’t have seen otherwise

Incredible experience thanks to the two guides - The previous communication with Manu Green Planet agency was very good. After comparing several agencies, we found them to be the best price. Yes we had a small initial misunderstanding with the subject of double and single rooms, as the single room had an extra cost, but still were always very attentive answering all my questions quickly before the trip.
Then the trip was with Amazon Peru Travellers: During the tour, Fray was amazing. His enthusiasm and passion for birds and nature is very noticeable, and he really does his best to give you the best experience and to see as many animals as possible. Also Jul was amazing, he was with us and helped a lot to improve the experience of the group, especially during the trekking, and in the zip line that at times were demanding by the heat and humidity of the jungle.
The overall experience was very good. As an aspect of note, I think it should be better explained that lodges are not luxury, as some people might imagine something different. Even so, the meals were excellent: very varied, healthy, with fresh fruit and all very rich. Thank you Flor!
We also want to highlight the driver, who made us feel very safe along roads full of curves and quite complicated.
In short, a highly recommended experience thanks to all the team that accompanied us.

An unforgettable Amazon experience! Highly recommend!! - I went on the 4-day trip to Manu National Park and couldn't recommend it more. If you love wildlife, nature, and being fully immersed in the Amazon, this is absolutely for you. I would love to go back again and next time with a better camera.
Fray was my tour guide and he was amazing. He is very knowledgeable about the rainforest, animals, and birds. He has a great eye as well and is able to somehow spot incredibly well-camouflaged birds from tens of meters away. He's clearly passionate about the Amazon and photography, and made sure we saw as much wildlife as possible. He set up a telescope whenever birds were perched so you could get a close-up view and snap photos with your phone.
I would tell my past self or others these things about the trip:
Rubber boots are provided on day 2 (many sizes available with adequate foot space so you don't have to size up) which protect you great against the mud and river. But wear comfortable hiking shoes. On day 1, there are stops along the car ride to the lodge where you'll hike and look for animals.
Also bring binoculars. A lot of birds are high in the canopy or far away. Without binoculars, they may look like specks!
I recommend a good handheld flashlight for the night walk, not just to see where you're walking, but to spot creatures further into the forest. Ideally one per person so everyone can join the search, making it much more immersive.
If possible, wear long, breathable pants for further protection against bugs. Sometimes the forest gets a bit dense and you don't want a spider or tick to hitch hike onto your leg.
I wore a tank top under a light jacket as I was worried about overheating with long-sleeved. I found it worked well against both the heat and bugs but made sure to spray but spray on myself.
About bug spray, bring Deet for sure, and some balm to put on bug bites. I could only find 30% but found it worked fine. I was barely bitten and never got swarmed. I was able to hike through the jungle with the jacket off when it got too hot with barely any bites. Actually there were fewer bugs than I expected. I'm not sure if it was the bug spray working really well but there weren't any huge swarms.
**Contact a travel clinic a few weeks in advance to see what vaccinations you should get and some anti-malaria medication
Bring a poncho just in case, though we got lucky with no rain. The weather can be unpredictable.
It's hot during the day but surprisingly cools down a lot at night. It was quite comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt at night.
The food is really good, especially given that you're in the jungle. You get to try different Peruvian dishes, snacks, and fresh fruits.
You can bring luggage as bags can be stored on top of the van to and from the lodge. If possible, a backpack makes things a little easier.
Bring a lightweight refillable water bottle. Giant jugs are available to refill as many times as you want. Insulation doesn't matter as the water is room temperature.
Remember to bring your own towel, soap, shampoo, and sandals for the 2nd lodge. Showers are cold, but you'll be grateful for it after sweating all day. The beds had mosquito nets too. There weren't that many bugs flying in the lodge actually, but I'm grateful for the extra protection. I didn't get bitten a single night. There's also a beautiful natural spring nearby, so pack a swimsuit if your interested.
Bring a power bank. Also charging at the 2nd lodge requires an adapter plug and has to be done in the dining hall.
There's an optional zipline activity as well (no extra cost)!
Overall, I highly recommend this if you love nature and animals, but be prepared to sweat. The only strenuous activity was the 1-2h hike up the mountain, but Fray and the guides were very attentive and gave options to choose a different activity or head down early. We ended up deciding to go with the mountain hike, and Fray and the guides made sure we all got up ok. Although it took a few rest breaks, the view was beautiful!

Amazing tour - The 4 day tour to the Amazon was amazing. It was a mix of adventure, wildlife spotting, boating and hiking plus zip lining (if that's your thing). The communication from start to finish has been great. Everything ran accordingly and to time. Our guides were very professional. Fray was very knowledgable about wildlife and good at spotting birds and mamals and he even shared some of the photographs he took with the group. The food on the trip was amazing :). I highly recommend booking this trip.

Be sure to do it! Much better than just three days! - The tour was incredibly great! On arrival and departure several stops were made so it never became too much. The flora and fauna is spectacular! You can also look forward to an overwhelming night sky. The tour was worth every penny! Most of all I want to praise our Chef Poncho but especially our Guide Hanibal!! The food was super delicious and varied and Hanibal made this tour unique: he knows an incredible amount, is very personable and always friendly and helpful!

Great 4 days/3 nights tour in the Amazon - Many thanks to our guide Fray who took us to all corners of the Jungle:) We were able to take very nice pictures and see different species (birds, monkeys, capybaras, Tapir) through his telescope but also up close. We did night explorations and very early in the morning and discovered the jungle from different angles (Zipline, kayak and boat tour, 2.5 hour hike and walk).
No worries if you have large bags, they will be stored in a secure room on the second day. Tip;) plan a smaller bag to take with it, because we had to walk in the river with our bags to reach the second lodge (super cool as experience!).
The food was very good and varied. We were able to taste several Peruvian specialties:)
We recommend Fray who is certainly passionate about his work! (And who has the eye to see the animals in the distance;)
