We also recommend: we rented for two nights at the hotel and even went up the mountain twice. We picked up tickets for the first day at noon and the next morning. So we went up at 6:30 a.m. on one of the first buses. Are then no crowds of tourists on the road and sunrise combined with fog simply magnificent. A natural spectacle!

I mean it’s Machu Pichu, of course it’s amazing - Breathtaking views and definitely once in a lifetime experience. Had a guide, which initially we were uncertain about, but having someone of Incan descent provide additional history did add something special. Weather did change quickly, so was good to be prepared and alternate between sun hat versus windbreaker/rain gear.

Machu Picchu start with a lot of starts to climb up but slow down and enjoy the view.
