- Vinicunca - Before starting the trek, the guide will provide a safety briefing. If hiking isn’t your preference, you can rent a horse from the local community. Remember to negotiate the price beforehand.
The trek begins with a gentle uphill climb lasting two hours, offering breathtaking views. You’ll be treated to sights of Andean farms and may spot Andean camelids like alpacas and llamas grazing.
At the summit, the guide will introduce you to some local rituals. You’ll also have the opportunity to admire the majestic Ausangate peak, considered sacred by locals. On clear days, it dominates Cusco’s southern skyline.
- Cusipata - After soaking in the extraordinary views, the trek back to the trailhead begins, where the driver will be waiting. You’ll then head back to Cusipata for lunch.
