Tough hike but the colours were worth it. - Me and my wife did the Rainbow Mountain trek last Tuesday and it was definitely a challenge. The altitude is no joke, so make sure you are acclimated before you try this. We started very early in the morning and the drive from Cusco was a bit long, but the views along the way were nice. The hike itself was steep towards the end, but seeing the colorful mountain in person was amazing. It looked just like the photos. Our guide was patient and kept checking on everyone to make sure we were okay with the breathing. We took plenty of water and some snacks which helped. If you are not a regular hiker, you can rent a horse for the steep parts, we saw many people doing that. It was cold at the top so wear layers. Overall a great experience and we are glad we reached the summit.
