Amazing experience! Loved it! - This was an amazing tour. Rubén was my tour guide, and he truly was excellent. I believe our driver was named Victor. The hiking part was about 2.3 miles up and the same distance down. I live at a pretty low elevation, but I am quite active. With the altitude, the hike to the top was difficult for me, but Rubén was very patient and encouraging along the way. There are options to rent a horse from locals to get up there, but they only take you about 80% of the way to the Rainbow Mountain. I am proud of myself for doing it, and it was a beautiful view. Everything was very smooth, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do it and feels like they are up for the hike at this altitude. The views were stunning. One of my favorite things I did in Peru! <3

10/10 take this 🌈🏔 tour! - So much fun!! Best guide ever - he was so funny and when I had a hard time hiking up the mountain he immediately pulled out his phone, played eye of the tiger, and started dancing to help encourage the group. It was a great view and I pet lots of llamas and alpacas along the way! 10/10 recommend! 😊🦙

An amazing tour. - We booked this tour but due to issues at rainbow mountain and it being shut, we were given options on what we wanted to do instead! We ended up going to Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains instead and it was amazing!! Not so much of a tricky hike, beautiful views and our tour guide Mario was superb!! Couldn’t have asked for a better tour.

Palccoyo: great alternative to the classic Rainbow Mountains - Less high, less tourists, less early to get up.
But at least as worth seeing. Our guide Carlos was very sympathetic and responded to all our wishes. The route is quite steep, but since we took sufficient breaks it was feasible for everyone. In addition, a super sweet alpaca accompanied us:)

Rainbow Mountain - It’s a dark, early morning start 4:00 - 4:30am.
From Cusco city it’s about a 3 hour journey on the road , with a stop for a quick breakfast in one of the rural restaurants. The coffee is good and there are toilet facilities.
It’s a slow, bumpy ride up the mountain on a dirt road.
As it gets higher, it gets cooler.
At the mountain, the toilet facilities are VERY basic and cost one sol.
The REAL challenge is the ALTITUDE that slows the pace down. The hike up the mountain is pretty flat with the exception of two Elevations.
Horses can be rented to go up and down, the handlers will quickly guide the horses for you. Each horse has its own pace, so If you’re traveling with your family or friends, it’s best you ALL rent horses or walk not to get Separated. The horse ride is bumpy, so there is not much chance for photos. We rented horses to go up and walked down. Going down is much easier than than going up.
The views are truly AMAZING!!
The locals have stands selling water, soft drinks, coca sweets, chocolates and salty snacks.
The hike is about 3 to 4 hours depending on fitness levels and individual reaction to altitude.
After the hike the drive down the mountain is quicker. There is a stop for lunch at a rural restaurant and back to Cusco.
The scenery on the drive back is IMPRESSIVE!
Very recomendable.

Magical rainbow mountain alternative - Carlos was an excellent guide. Absolutely amazing memories which he photographed and airdropped to us. Organised a special treat of a local ketchwan lady and her Yamba to walk with us in addition to a picnic on top of the mountain. Carlos walked to our ability. Highly recommend this day tour
