Must do if you are in country - Overall tour guide is fabulous, spoke excellent English and was very friendly. Individual guides at both locations were also top-notch. I highly recommend this tour. Just be prepared to spend about 1.5 hours each way on the drive to and from Dakar. Nothing anyone can do about it, it’s just somewhat far, and traffic Dakar is thick.

Lagoon/animal reserve experience AWESOME - We had a wonderful experience in Dakar, Senegal going to a Lagoon where we saw hundreds of birds, and then we went to an animal reserve where we saw giraffes, rhinos, hyenas, crocodiles, monkeys, and-gazelles! The guide was wonderful as he picked us up at the cruise terminal and dropped us back off, making for a very easy fun day! I definitely would recommend this excursion!

Lagoon/animal reserve AWESOME! - I really wanted to see animals when I was in Dakar, Senegal so I was thrilled to find an excursion on Viator that went to an animal reserve we had a great time. The knowledgeable guide picked us up at the cruise terminal and transported us to a lagoon where we a took a small boat, and saw hundreds of birds. Afterwards, we went to the animal reserve where we saw rhinos, giraffes, hyenas, crocodiles, antelopes and gazelles. It was awesome!

Great day for nature lovers - Really enjoyed this day out seeing the more natural side of Senegal. The reserve is full of animals, on the game drive saw something new every few minutes. Particularly enjoyed the boat trip on the Somone lagoon, was nice and relaxed. Abdoulaye was a great guide, very engaging through the day. Just be aware it is a full day trip not half but was back at the hotel before 5.

A day trip from Dakar - This was a great experience. The tour was great from start to finish: convenient and timely pickup from my hotel in Dakar, smooth ride to the reserve and the lagoon, a friendly tour guide throughout, and magnificent wildlife and scenery.

Safari very good but incredibly expensive excursion - The safari was very nice the boat trip at low tide rather poor. But a very very expensive trip, no drinks, but food included. Price performance, well!

Great locations - Bandia Park was lots of fun. Many opportunities for pix of impressive animals, and I appreciated how the guide was careful to tell us which were native to Senegal and which were from elsewhere on the continent. Somone Lagoon boat ride was lower-key but also fun, including some unusual wildlife sightings too.
Four stars rather than five because although we were promised an English-speaking guide for the day, at Bandia we (two English speakers who rode together out from Dakar in a cab with a driver who did not speak English) were put in a safari vehicle with a French-speaking group. The guide (from the park, not our tour operator) did try to translate all his commentary for us, but you could tell it was an abbreviated version. Please note I do not expect everyone in a foreign country to speak English to accommodate me, and in regular life I’d struggle along with my minimal French. But I chose to pay for an English-speaking tour specifically, and did not feel we were given that.
One other thing to note, the lunch does not include any beverage, and you have to pay cash if you get something to drink. If you go on this tour be sure to bring a little bit!
Nonetheless, the tour was definitely worth doing and I’d go again, just with adjusted expectations.

Viator Charged me for the excursion, but It was cancelled weeks before the excursion. Request Refund! - Please read the attached comments. I did not participate in this, as I cancelled it. You did charge me for the cancelled excursion, and I requesting a full refund. Thank You
Aloha from Hawaii. I’m back from my travels, and see that you charged my credit card for this excursion. I cancelled it telephonically with Viator in the same manner that I made the original registration. The tour coordinator contacted me a few weeks before the tour was scheduled to occur, and told me that their was not enough time to go to both destinations, and lobbied for me to do one of the items but do a drive around the city in stead. I decided not to follow this change in itinerary and we cancelled at Viator. Subsequently, I replied to several emails that the tour coordinator sent trying to coordinate a pickup time and location, and relayed that I cancelled the tour. The tour operator replied several times that they understand that I was no longer scheduled. Please issue a credit to correct this misunderstanding.
