  The Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs site is an ancient burial ground situated near Ibbankatuwa Wewa in Galewela DS, Sri Lanka. This site is believed to belong to the megalithic prehistoric and protohistoric periods of Sri Lanka and is regarded as one of the several ancient burial sites discovered in the country.

Sri Lanka’s prehistoric period spans from 250,000 to 1,000 BC. The transition from the prehistoric to the historic period is known as the protohistoric period. The Ibbankatuwa tomb site was first identified in 1970 by the Archaeological Department. Radiocarbon dating of the remnants found at the site has revealed that these tombs date back to the 700 – 400 B.C. period. Subsequently, several archaeological excavations were conducted in 1983–1984 and again between 1988 and 1990.

  Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium is a 30,000-seat cricket venue in Sri Lanka. The stadium is located in the Central Province, near Dambulla, on a 60-acre (240,000 m²) site leased from the Rangiri Dambulla Temple. It is the first and only international cricket ground in Sri Lanka’s dry zone. The stadium is built overlooking the Dambulla Tank (reservoir) and the Dambulla Rock.

  After lunch, visit the Dambulla rock temple, constructed by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C., which is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves, with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings, is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha, with the largest being a colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock, spanning 14 meters.
