Standing 90 meters tall in the desert, Ithra is located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It was constructed by Saudi Aramco and inaugurated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz on December 1, 2016.
• Al Khobar - Next, visit The Alfan Sharqy Urban Art Exhibition in Bayoniya, Al Khobar. The historic Bayoniya neighborhood was revitalized in 2018 by a group of young Saudi artists who transformed its streets into a vibrant canvas of graffiti. The Alfan Sharqy (Art is Eastern) graffiti exhibit was organized by Dawi Gallery, under the patronage of Princess Abeer bint Faisal Al Saud, and featured six traditional houses adorned with colorful murals, calligraphy, and abstract designs. These walls serve as a reminder that exciting and transformative art can emerge in the most unexpected places.
• Taybeen Museum - Proceed to the Taybeen Museum, a passion project fueled by nostalgia. This 300-square-meter museum in Al Khobar was born from Majid Al Ghamdi’s desire to preserve the vintage treasures of his youth, evolving into a collection of retro toys, board and video games, posters, televisions, cameras, and branded food and drink containers, totaling 10,000 pieces. With displays charting the evolution of Coke bottles from the 1970s, plush Sesame Street character toys, and vintage Barbies, it’s the perfect place to relive childhood memories.
• Heritage Village - Finally, drive to Heritage Village in Dammam. Part museum, part restaurant, this turret-topped attraction offers visitors a glimpse into a simpler life. The five-story building houses a museum showcasing jewelry, manuscripts, fabrics, and other artifacts, along with a small market selling Arabic perfumes, incense, woven palm-frond baskets, and wall hangings. However, the main attraction for many is the restaurant, where guests can relax on traditional floor cushions and enjoy delicious local cuisine, including mezze spreads and platters of grilled meats and rice, for an experience akin to dining in a Saudi home.
