- Dendera Temple Complex - Constructed in the 1st century B.C. by Ptolemy VIII and Queen Cleopatra II, the Dendera Temple is among Egypt’s most well-preserved temples. Dedicated to Hathor, the Goddess and mother of the Pharaohs, it symbolizes maternity, love, music, and the celestial. Hathor is often depicted with the horns of a sacred cow supporting the solar disc of the sun, holding an “Ankh” (the symbol of life) and a scepter. Visitors can explore the crypt, a fascinating spot for those comfortable with confined spaces. Two staircases lead to the roof, adorned with symbols representing the 12 months of the year. One of the rooftop chapels houses a replica of the renowned Dendera Zodiac (the original is in the Louvre, Paris). Recently restored and cleaned, the temple offers an immersive experience of ancient history.
- Abydos - The Great Temple of Seti I, following extensive restoration, stands as one of Egypt’s most complete, unique, and beautiful temples, featuring intricate decorations and a distinctive atmosphere. This remarkable L-shaped limestone structure had seven grand doorways and was dedicated to six major gods—Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah—as well as Seti I (1294–1279 BC) himself. Ramses II completed the temple after his father’s passing. The temple’s most renowned feature is the Gallery of the Kings, adorned with carvings of Seti I, his son Ramses II, and a long list of preceding pharaohs.
