Beijing-Datong (Hanging Temple, Yungang Grottoes) (L)
Hengshan Hanging Temple (Xuankong si) - Meet the driver at the lobby of your Beijing city hotel for a transfer to Beijing Railway Station. Enjoy a 2-hour bullet train journey to Datong independently. Upon arrival, your local Datong tour guide will welcome you and take you directly to the Hanging Temple (a 1.5-hour drive).
The Hanging Temple is the only existing temple that hosts worship for Taoists, Confucians, and Buddhists. Built in 491 A.D., it is an architectural marvel as it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge, more than 50 meters above the ground.
Yungang Grottoes - After lunch at a local restaurant, explore the Yungang Grottoes.
Accompany your tour guide to explore the grottoes and niches, learning about their history and culture. With 252 caves and 51,000 statues, the Yungang Grottoes art represents the successful fusion of Buddhist religious symbolic art from South and Central Asia with Chinese cultural traditions, beginning in the 5th century CE under Imperial patronage.
After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Datong.

These masterpieces of art and the entire architectural complex are ancient cultural splendors, rare folk art estates, and a great window to learn about Buddhist culture in China.
Then you will be transferred to Pingyao Railway Station for a 3-hour train ride to Xi’an.
Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - Upon arrival in Xi’an, your local tour guide will pick you up from Xi’an North Station.

Stroll around the museum and gain rich information from your tour guide.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta) - Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, then in the afternoon, explore the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, originally built in 652 to collect Buddhist materials brought from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.
