Pick-up from Your Beijing Downtown Hotel and Drive to the Hanging Temple

Hengshan Hanging Temple (Xuankong si) - A friendly English-speaking driver will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8:00 am and drive approximately 4 hours to the Datong Hanging Temple. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch nearby (at your own expense), then visit the Hanging Temple. Afterwards, proceed to your hotel in Datong (arrangements to be made independently).

Explore Yungang Grottoes and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, then Drive to Wutaishan

Yungang Grottoes - Your driver will pick you up at 8:00 am from your Datong hotel and take you to Yungang Grottoes, where you will spend 3-4 hours.

Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda - After enjoying a local lunch, continue to Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda. After 90 minutes, meet your driver and transfer to Wutaishan (approximately 3 hours driving time).

Visit Bodhisattva Temple (Summit Bodhisattva), Xian Tong Temple, Luohou Temple at Wutaishan

Wutai Shan (Five Terrace Mountain) - Your driver will pick you up at 8:30 am and transfer you to Wutaishan. Mount Wutai has 47 Buddhist temples. You can visit some of them. The itinerary below is just an example for you.

Visit Dailuo Ding of Wutai Mountain and Shuxiang Temple, then Drive to Pingyao City

Pingyao County - After lunch, drive to Pingyao City (approximately 4 hours driving time). Your driver will drop you off at your hotel (arrangements to be made independently).

Zhangbi Ancient Castle, Pingyao Ancient City, and Pingyao City Wall

Zhangbi Ancient Castle - Meet your driver in your hotel lobby at 8:00 am and transfer about 1 hour to the ancient multi-functional Zhangbi Ancient Castle, located southeast of Jiexiu City, Shanxi Province. It was built in 617 AD at an altitude of 1,040 meters (3,412 feet) above sea level.

Ancient City of Pingyao - Then drive back to Pingyao and visit Pingyao Ancient City, one of China’s four best-preserved old cities, along with Lijiang Old Town, Huizhou Ancient City, and Langzhong Ancient City.

City Wall of Pingyao - Enjoy a local lunch in Pingyao Ancient City, then walk to the City Wall. From the top of the City Wall, you can have a bird’s-eye view of the entire Ancient City. After that, transfer back to your hotel. If you are staying in Pingyao Ancient City, you can continue to explore at your leisure.

Qiao’s Family Compound, then Drive Back to Beijing

Qiao’s Family Compound (Qiao Jia Dayuan) - Your driver will pick you up early in the morning and head to Qiao’s Family Compound (about 1 hour away). It is the residential compound of the renowned financier Qiao Zhiyong, the most famous member of the Qiao family.

Beijing - After lunch, drive back to your Beijing hotel or apartment. The journey takes about 8 hours. You can relax and rest in the car, enjoying your ride back.
