You will explore the Hanging Temple in Datong, Shanxi—a ‘swan song of the cliffs’ initially constructed over 1,500 years ago during the Northern Wei Dynasty. Perched on a 60-meter-high cliff face, its ingenious structure and remarkable design make it an architectural wonder that seamlessly integrates Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. • Yungang Grottoes - Carved from 460 AD during the Northern Wei Dynasty, this UNESCO World Heritage site boasts 45 major caves and over 59,000 statues. As China’s first royal-commissioned grottoes, Yungang signifies the beginning of the sinicization of Buddhist art. The five “Tan Yao Caves” (Caves 16–20) merge Central Asian and Chinese styles; the middle period caves feature intricate carvings with flying apsaras and celestial musicians; later caves exhibit a more slender, ethereal aesthetic. • Datong Ancient City Wall - Constructed during the Ming Dynasty, over 600 years ago, the Datong Ancient City Wall stretches more than 7 kilometers around. It stands tall and wide—a crucial frontier stronghold in northern China in its time. From the top, you can view the entire old city of Datong. The vista is expansive.
  After visiting all the attractions for the day, the tour guide will accompany you to Datong High-Speed Railway Station to board the bullet train to Beijing. Upon arrival in Beijing, the staff will escort you back to your hotel.
