This lesser-known island is rich in wildlife, providing a serene wilderness escape away from the hustle and bustle of I-80. Visitors can observe a wild herd of 600 American Bison roaming freely. In addition to the Bison, keep an eye out for coyote, bobcat, antelope, porcupine, big-horn sheep, mule deer, and, depending on the season, up to 200,000 migratory birds. This island offers a pristine opportunity to connect with nature. After wildlife viewing, enjoy a hike to Buffalo Point on the Island to witness the stunning sunset and breathtaking scenery.
Bug Season (April-June)
We provide bug spray for mosquitoes and hats/bug nets for biting gnats. Midges are present but do not bite.
The hike is a 0.9-mile round trip. It includes a few steep sections on dirt paths but is well-traveled. This hike is considered moderately difficult, covering less than a mile.
The tour vehicle is a High Roof 12 Passenger Mercedes Sprinter Passenger Van, marked with Sunnyside Expeditions. It features large windows in the back for optimal wildlife viewing.

The sunset tour of antelope Island was awesome! - I was debating whether or not I should try to sneak this trip in while at a convention in Salt Lake City. I am certainly glad I did because it was definitely the highlight of the trip. Just a short ride from downtown Salt Lake City and you’re on antelope Island to enjoy the beautiful views of nature as well as the beautiful sunset. I definitely recommend the sunset trip that leaves late afternoon each day.

Just do it - Authentic experience. Blake is a great soul and shows you everything. We had incredible luck of bison crossing right in front of us. Beautiful sunset.

Terrific guide and experience! - It is a 4+ hour experience. Eat early dinner or late lunch unless you're ok eating after 9pm. Your guide will notify you before the tour how to dress. Listen to his advice. Otherwise, you'll have a great time. Garth was funny, engaging and extremely knowledgeable about the island the animals that inhabit it. Kept us at a safe distance at all times while allowing us to take great pics. Highly recommend the tour and Garth!!

Blake - Blake was a lot of fun.
My only suggestion would be a rotation of seats 1/2 way through. I was in the back left corner the whole trip and missed some sights.

Fun tour, beautiful... - Fun tour, beautiful sunset with bison watching. Bugs were savages but was given bug spray and head net to help keep them off. Worth it. Got great pictures!

Incredible experience, beautiful sunset, so many wildlife and amazing tour guides! - A stellar experience, cannot recommend this enough. During our trip we saw bison, antelope, burrowing owls and different species of birds. We capped the evening off with the most beautiful sunset view I’ve ever seen.
Our tour guides Blake and Ben were a fountain of knowledge, incredibly warm and friendly, and absolutely stellar at spotting different animals and stopping for us to get a view and take photos. I felt at ease with them and loved some of the spontaneous adventures we got up to as well.

Bison at Sunset - You will see lots of Bison and gave plenty of opportunities to take pictures of Bison herds. The state park is beautiful.
