Unveiling the Mysteries of Egypt: A Family’s Journey to the Giza Pyramids

Eager to explore Egypt’s iconic landmarks, I embarked on a family adventure to the Giza Pyramids. With our knowledgeable guide, Shreen, we experienced the magic of camel rides, explored ancient wonders, and enjoyed delightful surprises along the way.

A Family Adventure to the Pyramids

Our journey to the Giza Pyramids began with a sense of excitement and anticipation. As a family of five, we were eager to explore one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Our guide, Shreen Fares, met us outside our hotel with two vehicles ready to accommodate our group. The drive to the pyramids took about 40 minutes, and Shreen used this time to share her insights on Egyptian history and culture, making the journey both informative and enjoyable.

Upon arriving at the pyramids, our first activity was a camel ride through the Sahara desert. The kids were thrilled, and the experience was nothing short of magical. Shreen stayed behind at the starting point, ensuring we were well-informed about the tipping customs for the camel keepers. Her guidance was invaluable, making the experience smooth and stress-free.

Exploring the Ancient Wonders

After our camel ride, we took a bus to get closer to the pyramids. The sight of these ancient structures was awe-inspiring, and we had plenty of opportunities to capture the moment with photos. Our tickets included access to the interior of two pyramids, where we navigated steep and narrow tunnels. It was a bit of a challenge, especially with the kids, but the sense of adventure kept us going.

Next, we visited the Sphinx, where we took more photos and marveled at its grandeur. Shreen’s knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience even more enriching. She was always ready to answer our questions and offer suggestions on how to make the most of our time in Cairo.

A Day Full of Surprises

The day was filled with delightful surprises, including a visit to a shop where our names were converted into hieroglyphics. Shreen had remembered it was my birthday and arranged for the staff to sing and present me with a gift, adding a personal touch to the day.

We also visited a perfumery and a shop showcasing the art of papermaking. While the perfumery experience was slightly marred by a pushy salesperson, it didn’t dampen our spirits. We ended our shopping spree at a store filled with herbs, teas, and spices, where we picked up some unique souvenirs.

Lunch was a buffet of local dishes, providing a taste of authentic Egyptian cuisine. It was a perfect way to end our tour before heading back to the hotel. Throughout the day, Shreen was a wonderful guide, making our experience memorable and stress-free. Her friendly demeanor and willingness to help made all the difference, and I would highly recommend this tour to any family visiting Egypt.
