The day began with the soft hues of dawn as my wife and I were picked up from our quaint hotel in Athens. The anticipation of exploring the ancient myths of Greece was palpable. Our guide, a knowledgeable and amiable fellow, welcomed us aboard a comfortable van, equipped with a microphone and speakers to ensure we wouldn’t miss a single historical anecdote. As we drove through the city, he regaled us with tales of Athens and its storied past, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.

Our first stop was Marathon, the site of the legendary battle in 490 BC, where the Athenians triumphed over the Persians.
