- Castalia Spring - Nestled at the base of Mount Parnassos, between the twin rocks of the Phaedriades, is the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, home to the most renowned oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi was considered the world’s center. According to legend, it was here that Zeus’s two eagles, sent from the universe’s ends to locate the world’s navel, converged. The sanctuary of Delphi, set in a breathtaking landscape, served for centuries as the cultural and religious hub and a symbol of unity for the Hellenic world.
- Delphi Archaeological Museum - Situated between the ancient site and the modern town of Delphi, the Archaeological Museum boasts an intriguing collection of artifacts from the site, including paintings, statues, votive offerings, and stars. The exhibits are organized chronologically across 14 rooms.
- Delphi - The present-day small town of Delphi (population 2,300) is now a hub for hotels, hostels, restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. It was established in 1892 when the village of Kastri, which had developed around the Temple of Apollo, relocated one kilometer west to facilitate the excavation of the ancient site. This location serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area.
- Arachova - In winter, affluent Athenians enjoy visiting the mountain village of Arachova (population 800), located on the northern slopes of Mount Parnassos, a few kilometers east of Delphi. The old stone buildings house charming hotels and hostels with traditional décor and cozy taverns offering local specialties such as chelopites (a type of pasta) and formaéla (grilled cheese). The village is famous for its flokati fluffy rugs, available in shops throughout the city.
