Fabulously good!!! Must try 💞 - Excellent day trip which was very well organised with fantastic BBQ and friendly staff. Enjoyed the day eating, soaking in the sun and walking through the white sands.

Beautiful spot - What a beautiful spot. We caught the catamaran across and enjoyed the views. When we got to the island you were tendered ashore with some excellent skill due to it being an extremely windy day. We were welcomed ashore and after a brief run down we enjoyed the BBQ lunch that was ready waiting. After a cultural performance we had photos and quite a few laughs with the dancers! Then on to snorkeling which would have been great I'm sure but due to the wind and waves it was a bit average but that's the weather you can't control it! We had a laze on the beach and a few more Fiji golds and made the decision to go back early. Very enjoyable place and worth the trip. We saw 2 turtles on the way back which topped the day off for me.

Don’t think you can get... - Don’t think you can get easy access to the beach for a swim, the coral is everywhere, you need need reef shoes, also there’s not enough snorkeling gear to go around, especially flippers.

South Sea Island Day Trip - I really enjoyed my time out on the island – from the smooth, comfortable catamaran ride to the vibrant Bula spirit both on board and on the island itself. We had a full day of fun activities, a delicious buffet lunch, and complimentary soft drinks, local wines, and beers. The only small downside was that the beach was quite full of shells, which made walking a bit tricky, but overall it was a beautiful day with lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

A nice experience rather than just being stuck in a resort. - No extreme problems with the trip except the loading onto the tender in fairly rough conditions at day's end, and a very difficult ascent to the big boat from the tender. All four of us (of various ages) stumbled and fell (onto other people) and although helped by the crew, it seemed as if they were most definitely embarking/disembarking onto the wrong side of the big boat, when the other side (starboard) would have protected us from the waves. However.... the over-efficiency of staff on the island, saw them continually remove our barely opened cans of soft drinks, around a table that was clearly occupied. Terrible waste of money. I had to get two cans over the course of the afternoon, just to have *one* to drink, and they removed my grandson's one from which he'd taken just two-three sips, between exploring. (We were mostly drinking water from our own bottles). And, by the time I reached the table the bread basket had run out, and wasn't replaced; and there were still people behind me. We also couldn't get assistance in hiring a kayak... "find a life-jacket then wait for one" when there were innumerable people wearing life-jackets who were not kayaking, so there were none to find, until much later, when the wind was too choppy for kayaking.

Marine life a highlight - We selected a half day tour. Booking on TripAdvisor was easy and the ability to pay with PayPal was appreciated. The bonus of being collected from our resort made transfers easy. Unfortunately the check-in counter at Denarau marina was confusing and complicated made more so by dated procedures. We were three small groups travelling together. We were each asked why we did not check-in on line. No one in the group had been afforded the ability to check-in online by the app and in any case we had to queue for wristbands even though we all had a bar code which was available to be scanned. We were all then issued with 2 printed boarding passes for the trip out and back. That said, the island was idyllic. The lunch was generous and relished by all. The variety of inclusive drinks was welcomed. We all went on the semi-submersible tour of the coral reefs and were astounded at the variety of marine life, truly the highlight of the day. Definitely worthwhile

Don’t do this if you value time efficiency - It’s fun. But if you value your time don’t do it. Will arrive at port and waste 30 minutes in line to get a ticket. Also the line when you arrive that you stand in doesn’t matter regardless of the signs so do whatever is shortest. On the way back prepare to waste about an hour using their busses to go the 4 minutes distance to your hotel. After the boat wait about 30 minutes on the bus. If you stay at the Hilton prepare to stop at every other hotel known to man before you get back. For reference the taxi cabs there charge $10 so just bring cash to do that. Nice folks but the onboarding and off boarding is a free for all $hit$h0w

Poor weather cancels water sports but not trip itself - Team on the island were fantastic, great entertainment, unfortunately the company did not cancel due for poor weather but didn't allow water sports due to wind, which was blowing before we left... confusing much? Both of these are in the Ts and Cs, yes. Don't assume the company will cancel if there are poor weather conditions. Unfortunately no water sports were available besides white chop snorkeling on the exposed part of the island, protected side was both low tide, for private guests only, and other parts of usual swimming/snorkeling area were closed for transfers use. On arrival we could have had short time of better snorkeling conditions, but were directed to eat group lunch on arrival straight after orientation.

Worst experience poop island - Discriminated Against and Humiliated – A Deeply Disturbing Experience with South Sea Cruises I never imagined I’d have to write a review like this, but what my family and I experienced with South Sea Cruises was not just disappointing it was deeply traumatic and rooted in blatant racial discrimination. As Indian ,we were treated as if we didn’t belong from the moment we boarded. While white and Chinese guests were greeted warmly, offered premium service, and made to feel welcome, we were ignored, dismissed, and treated like second-class passengers. It was painfully obvious that we were not seen as equals. When we respectfully raised our concerns, the situation escalated in a way that was both shocking and unacceptable. A crew member became aggressive and confrontational, even attempting to physically intimidate us. The general manager stood by in silence, offering no support, no apology, and no accountability. But the worst part came when we returned to Port Denarau. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the staff called the police on us for no reason other than the fact that we were Indian and dared to speak up. We were humiliated in public, treated like criminals, and left shaken by the entire ordeal. This was not a misunderstanding. It was racism, plain and simple. No one local or tourist should ever be subjected to such treatment, especially in a country that prides itself on hospitality and inclusivity. I urge South Sea Cruises to take a hard look at their staff training, their values, and the way they treat guests who don’t fit a certain profile. And I strongly advise anyone who is a local or a person of color to think twice before booking with this company. What should have been a peaceful day on the water became one of the most distressing experiences of our lives.
