• Kecak and Fire Dance - The origins of the Kecak and Fire Dance are not precisely known, but it is generally agreed that the Balinese Kecak was first developed as a performing art in the village of Bona, Gianyar. Initially, Kecak was a song or music created from a combination of sounds forming melodies typically used to accompany the sacred Sanghyang dance, which could only be performed in temples. In the early 1930s, artists from Bona, Gianyar, attempted to develop a Kecak dance by incorporating the Ramayana story, replacing the Sanghyang Dance, allowing this dance to be presented publicly as a performance art. The first part of the Ramayana story depicted is the abduction of Goddess Sita by King Ravana.
