11:00 am – 11:30 am: The first stop is the Goaldi Mosque, constructed in 1519 A.D. in the village of Goaldi, Sonargaon, by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan during Sultan Hussain Shah’s reign. It is one of Bangladesh’s ancient mosques. A short tea break will be enjoyed here.
- Boro Sardar Bari / বড় সর্দার বাড়ি - Boro Sardar Bari in Sonargaon is a historic mansion built in 1901 by the affluent Sardar merchant family. Renowned for its elegant Indo-European architectural style, the building boasts grand columns, arched windows, and intricate designs. Once a symbol of prosperity, it now forms part of the Sonargaon Folk Arts and Crafts Museum, highlighting Bengal’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. It stands as one of Sonargaon’s most notable attractions, reflecting the grandeur of the region’s past.
- Sonargaon Folk Art and Craft Museum - The tour will proceed to the Main Building (Prasad), formerly King Isa Kha’s palace, now serving as the Folk Art and Craft Museum. The newly constructed folk art building will also be explored. The entire campus will be toured to discover the ancient capital of Bengal.
- Panam Nagar - The visit continues to Panam City, established in 1500 A.D. Wealthy Hindu Lords conducted their business here and created a city with all necessary facilities. The area is divided by a single road lined with colonial-style buildings. These artistic structures will transport visitors to ancient Bangla.
1:30 pm – 2:00 pm: Lunch will be enjoyed at a nearby restaurant, featuring local cuisine that may be a bit spicy and hot. Please inform us of any special dietary needs upon booking.
2:00 pm – 2:30 pm: A brief rest will be taken under a greenwood tree, allowing for some leisurely conversation.
- Meghna Bridge - The tour will proceed to the Meghna River for a boat ride. Meghna is one of Bangladesh’s three major rivers, and Sonargaon is located on its banks.

Lovely day out from Dhaka - A great day-out from Dhaka, Shahadat, from TravelMate was a lovely guide, knowledgeable and very good english; took me to all the places described in the plan. Good vehicle driven by a nice bloke. Highly recommended.

Historical place - Fantastic day at this historical place. Everything worked out fine. Communation was easy, pick up was punctual and the guide and driver were very professional in every way. Recommend this tour to everyone visiting Dhaka.

Sonargaon yrip - It was historical trip my guide Shahadat Hossain was very knowledgeable about the whole history and I learned a lot. He was very kind and respectful and he made sure he showed me everything on the list. It was a great experience.

Discovering Bangladesh’s Heritage in a Perfect Day Trip to Sonargaon - I recently took the Sonargaon Day Tour from Dhaka City, and overall it was a pleasant, informative outing that gave me insight into Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage.
The itinerary offers a good mix of historical, architectural, and cultural stops, giving a fuller picture of life around old Dhaka. The local guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, sharing stories and details. Transportation, timings, and transitions between sites were handled smoothly, which made the day feel relaxed rather than rushed and highly recommended.

Excellent trip to the... - Excellent trip to the ruins of Panam City and Sonargaon. Lots of traffic both ways, but that is Dhaka. Highly recommended.

Thank you Mr. Shahadat - Had a full day of fun, activities and adventures. Started our day by visiting ancient mosque Goaldi, aged more than 500 years, continued to the old capital Sonargaon which is known now as Sonargaon Folk Museum. Amazing architectural style, wonderful museum to know about history and way of living tents and village. Panam city is a great part of the tour. Had a great lunch and our last spot was Taj Mahal, an imitation to the real one in Agra, India.
Great tour, our guide Mr. Shahadat is very kind and informative. He cares a lot for a successful tour.
Reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Ok overpriced tour with unbelievably bad traffic - The mini Taj and Panam city. Not a lot to see and 40 minutes out to this place and 3.5 hours back. The worst traffic and I live in Los Angeles! Plus I was charged the single supplement price and yet it wasn’t solo as I shared the experience with a Turk. Nice guy, but I should get a partial refund.

Disappointed - Tour guide, Charro apparently not aware of what was to be included in price of tour. Charged repeatedly for included items Many hours spent in car, in traffic. Tour guides command of English seemed quite limited, unable to provide much useful information when at sights, museums etc. Did show up promptly for hotel pickup.
