- Masroor Rock Cut Temple - Guests will be picked up from their hotel in the morning and transported to the town of Kangra, located 15 miles from Dharamshala. The journey to Kangra takes approximately one hour.
The tour continues with a visit to the 8th-century Masroor Rock Temples. These are a collection of intricately carved rock temples situated about 30 miles from Kangra town. Carved from a single monolithic rock, these are the only rock temples in North India. A large water pond is nearby, and the temple grounds offer breathtaking views of the snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains.
- Kangra Fort - The next stop is Kangra Fort, belonging to the Katoch dynasty, reputed to be India’s oldest surviving dynasty. The fort is perched atop a steep hill, strategically positioned at the meeting point of the River Majhi and River Banganga. Despite being in ruins, the fort provides magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a nearby restaurant (beverages not included).
After lunch, the tour proceeds to the Mata Brajeshwari Temple, rebuilt in 1905 following a devastating earthquake that destroyed the original structure. According to the Hindu epic, Mahabharata, the original temple was constructed by the Pandavas, who received a divine vision from Goddess Durga instructing them to build a temple in her honor. The temple was said to have housed tons of gold and silver and was looted multiple times by Muslim invaders. After visiting the temple, there will be time to explore the local market.
At the conclusion of the tour, guests will be driven back to Dharamshala and returned to their hotel.
