Trek to Gosainkunda
Gosainkunda - The trek ascends above the tree line towards the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda (Elevation 4,380 m/14,370 ft). According to legend, Lord Shiva placed his Trisul here, creating these stunning lakes. The destination is the largest lake, which hosts a significant festival every August. This region is inhabited by the Tamang mountain people. Visitors can explore around the lake and enjoy the view of Lirung Himal’s snowcapped peak.
Along the way, quaint villages like Lauribinayek, with its stone homes and terraced farms, can be explored. The day promises breathtaking scenic beauty. The trekking time is approximately 5 hours.
Trek back to Dhunche
Dhunche - The descent in elevation is swift as the trek returns to Dhunche Bazar. The open vistas give way to thick jungles as the path dips below the tree line. After a roughly 7-hour downhill trek, the night will be spent back at the hotel.
Return to Kathmandu
Thamel - Following breakfast, a local bus is boarded to return to Kathmandu. The bus ride is a pleasant change after three days of trekking. As the journey progresses towards the capital city, small villages pass by. The local people on the bus are friendly and curious, as they rarely encounter visitors in this part of Nepal.
The abundance of activities in and around Kathmandu and the surrounding Valley is remarkable. Upon returning, there may be a desire to explore more of Nepal’s incredible sites. The team at Himalayan Advisor is eager to showcase more fascinating places to visit, not only around the Kathmandu Valley but throughout all of Nepal.
