DAY 1 Itinerary: Lijiang - Haba Village - Dela Ranch - Sheep House Ranch - Orchid Ping Camp

Haba Village - Situated in Yunnan, Haba Village is part of Sanba Naxi Township in Shangri-La City, located at the base of Haba Snow Mountain, with an elevation ranging from 2,700 to 2,900 meters. It serves as the initial stop and a popular hub for tourists aiming to climb Haba Snow Mountain, and is often regarded by climbers as the perfect starting point for their first ascent of a 5,000-meter snow-capped peak.

This village, primarily inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group, is nestled amidst mountains and rivers, surrounded by lush forests, creating a paradise-like setting. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich Naxi culture and the highland farming lifestyle. The village provides comprehensive tourist services, including transportation, lodging, meals, horses, and guides, making it an excellent base for mountaineering and hiking enthusiasts to rest and acclimate to the plateau environment.

Shangri-La County - Dela Ranch in Shangri-La (officially known as Shangri-La Fanchen Dela Wild Luxury Camp) is a premium camping destination that has gained significant attention in recent years. Located at the foot of the northeast side of Haba Snow Mountain, it offers a unique experience of being surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of snow-capped mountains and the thrill of the outdoors. At Dela Ranch, visitors can enjoy a majestic panoramic view of Haba Snow Mountain. The mountains are adorned with either emerald green or white coats throughout the seasons. Walking through the pasture, primeval forests, alpine meadows, and seasonally blooming flowers creates a picturesque scene, with tranquil alpine lakes like Black Sea Lake scattered among them. Shangri-La County - Orchid Flat Campsite is located on the terraced slopes east of Haba Snow Mountain, a high alpine pasture directly facing the peaks. In spring and summer, the area transforms into a stunning sea of flowers, with alpine rhododendrons blooming in May and June. The vibrant scene is enhanced by the distant snow-capped peaks and nearby pristine forest, adding a touch of splendor. The campsite offers comfortable and luxurious tents. Popular activities include swings facing the snow-capped mountains and nighttime stargazing. Shangri-La County - Itinerary: Depart from Lijiang to Haba Village by bus at 8:30 AM, arriving at 11:30 AM. After a simple lunch, take a bus to Dela Ranch. The team leader will guide a warm-up and start today’s hike through the forest and pasture. Arrival at Lanhuaping Camp is expected by 5:00 PM. After the team leader leads a stretching session, guests can rest before enjoying dinner. After the camp, guests are free to explore.

Shangri-La County - In Shangri-La’s Rhododendron Valley, a sea of alpine rhododendrons stretches for kilometers, undulating along the mountainside. Various rhododendron varieties, ranging from pink-purple at lower altitudes to pure white at higher elevations, create a magnificent three-dimensional flower gallery. Peak blooms occur from May to June each year, blanketing the valley in shades of red, pink, and white. The sea of flowers is interspersed with dense fir forests and exposed rocky outcrops. Shangri-La County - Black Sea Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake at an elevation of 4,200 meters, reflects the conical peaks of Haba Snow Mountain in its emerald green waters. Dense fir forests surround the lake, and in midsummer, a sea of rhododendrons blooms. Ancient driftwood floats on the water, creating a dramatic backdrop against the sheer cliffs on the opposite bank. At dawn and dusk, enjoy the breathtaking sight of the sun shining on the golden peaks, alternating with the starry sky reflected on the lake’s surface.

Shangri-La County - Breakfast is served at the Lanhuaping campsite at 8:00 AM. Departure from the campsite is at 8:30 AM, with a climb through the forest, wetland, and Rhododendron Valley to the Black Sea Lake Observation Deck, arriving at 1:00 PM. After taking photos and checking in, guests can descend to the lake (the fastest time is 1 hour). The return to Lanhuaping for rest, packing, and descent begins, with arrival back at the hotel around 6:00 PM.

Tiger Leaping Gorge - Tea Horse Inn - Midway Inn - Waterfall - Tina’s - Lijiang

Cha Ma Ke Zhan - Located in Yongsheng Village, Tiger Leaping Gorge Town, Shangri-La’s Tiger Leaping Gorge Tea Horse Inn is nestled between Haba Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Its expansive balcony is a highlight, offering breathtaking views of the thirteen peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Opened in 1998, it’s renowned for its services to backpackers, offering shuttle service between Lijiang and Shangri-La. It also features a restaurant with panoramic views, and some rooms offer stunning views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The hostel also arranges for professional hiking guides and offers special dining options, including beef hot pot and chicken noodle soup, making it an ideal stopover and rest stop for Tiger Leaping Gorge hikers.

Lijiang - After breakfast at Haba Village at 8:00, the journey begins from the inn to Tiger Leaping Gorge at 8:30. It takes 1 hour to drive to the Tea Horse Inn to start today’s hike. The Tea Horse Inn is 5 kilometers away from the Midway Inn, which takes about 1.5 hours to hike. The Midway Inn is 5 kilometers away from Tina’s, which takes about 1.5 hours to hike. Team members can take photos and check in at the floor-to-ceiling windows of the cliff hotel, and then return to Lijiang.
