- Alcazar de Colon - The Alcázar de Colón, or Viceregal Palace of Don Diego Colón, is situated in the Plaza de España in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Built near the cliffs overlooking the Ozama River, it was granted to Diego Colón, the first-born son of Christopher Columbus, by King Ferdinand the Catholic, to establish a home for himself and his descendants on the island of Hispaniola. Diego Colón arrived in 1509 as governor, and today, the Alcazar de Colón Museum operates here. Constructed between 1511 and 1514, it reflects the influences of the existing structure in Mancera de Abajo, Salamanca, Spain, whose ruins still exist. The architect’s name remains unknown. The building predominantly features Mudejar Gothic style. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour with audio in their language, explaining the antiques step by step.
- Museo De Las Casas Reales - Originally built in 1508, this museum offers a comprehensive overview of the island’s rich history and the Dominican Republic. It also houses a collection of weapons once owned by Dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina.
- Panteon Nacional - This building was among the last constructed by the Spanish on Dominican soil. The exact start date of its construction is uncertain, but historians estimate it was between 1714 and 1755, attributed to Jerónimo Quezada y Garçon. Initially, it served as a Jesuit church, where priests conducted mass with their backs to the congregation, so everyone, including the priests, faced the figure of Jesus Christ and the altar. The National Pantheon has approximately 36 empty spaces reserved for future heroes, along with an unmarked space dedicated to the unknown soldier. A permanent Honor Guard, composed of members of the Presidential Guard in full dress, stands motionless. One guard performs a solemn walk along the central aisle, from the main entrance to the main altar.
- Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación - The Cathedral of Santo Domingo is the oldest in America, commissioned by Pope Julius II in 1504. It serves as the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, with construction beginning in 1512 under the pastoral leadership of the first bishop of Santo Domingo.
