- Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - At 8:30 am, the guide will meet the group at a centrally located hotel in Beijing to begin the tour at the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved royal park in China, often referred to as “The Museum of Royal Gardens.” This introductory tour of the Summer Palace will enchant visitors with the traditional Chinese philosophy of harmonious balance between the natural landscape, streams, water, and man-made structures such as pavilions, bridges, and halls.
- Jingshan Park (Jingshan Gongyuan) - The next stop is Jingshan Park, once a private imperial garden connected to the Forbidden City. Climbing to the Wanchun Pavilion offers the best panoramic view of the Forbidden City.
- Beihai Park (Beihai Gongyuan) - The tour continues to Beihai Park, a former imperial garden established in the 11th century. Visitors can admire notable attractions like the Nine Dragon Screen, a wall built in 1402 featuring reliefs of nine different Chinese dragons carved on both sides, and the White Pagoda, a 40-meter high stupa on the highest point of Jade Flower Island, constructed to honor the 5th Dalai Lama’s visit in 1651. The pagoda is made of white stone, adorned with sun, moon, and flame engravings.
- Back Lakes (Hou Hai) - The tour proceeds to the Shichahai Lake area for a Hutong Rickshaw Tour to an old courtyard lasting about an hour. Participants will visit a local family and experience the daily life of ordinary Chinese people. Hutongs are narrow alleyways where communities live closely together. Exploring Hutongs by rickshaw reveals residents playing Chinese chess, Mahjong, eating, and relaxing on the streets. Hutongs serve as a museum of Beijing’s folk customs.
- Hou Lake - The tour concludes at 5:00 pm in Houhai, an area renowned for its nightlife, with many lakeside residences transformed into restaurants, bars, and cafes. This area is particularly popular with foreign tourists visiting Beijing, as well as the expatriate community and younger locals.
