Recognized as a UNESCO site in 2020, the Hantan River area is celebrated for its rich geological diversity and ecosystem. In the winter months, the river freezes, allowing visitors to walk on its surface. Soyisan is a relatively small mountain, but since Cheorwon is largely flat plains, taking the monorail to the summit offers a clear view of the DMZ in the fresh air. The area beautifully recreates Cheorwon’s 1930s cityscape, providing a nostalgic journey back in time.
North Korea’s Labor Headquarters, also known as Nodongdangsa, was constructed by North Korea in 1946, shortly after the end of Japanese colonization. During the Korean War, all buildings in the vicinity were destroyed except for this one, which is now a registered cultural heritage site.
