The coastline is a designated intangible area, and in February, it is bustling with young penguins learning to swim in the small pools left by the receding tide. Traveling south from Puerto Madryn on National Route No. 3, after approximately 190 km of paved and gravel roads, visitors will reach Punta Tombo, the largest continental reserve for Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus). This remarkable site hosts tens of thousands of Magellanic penguins, who arrive each year from September to nest and raise their young. It is crucial to stay on the clearly marked paths to observe the wildlife respectfully.

Penguins rule!!! - My Punto Tombo tour was very enjoyable. From the moment I was picked up at my accommodations Pierre our guide made sure I was looked after and wanted for nothing. Despite a delay by one guest we were on time throughout. There were sufficient toilet breaks and instructions were clear. Pierre is very knowledgeable about the history and places we visited. He gave equal attention to me even though I was the only English speaker. He even walked with us out to the end of the trail at Punto Tombo. The penguins were delightful and so were the elephant seals. Although I wasn't sure about the Paleontological museum in Trelew, it was worth visiting. Our driver Ruben was great too. The car was clean and comfortable. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

Beautiful experience with penguins - The experience is beautiful. All the time the guide was clear about itinerary and times. The sound within the combi could be improved since in the ripio area it was not heard. The visit is very complete!

Amazing experience - Amazing experience. We could see elephant seals and penguins up close. To close the tour we went to the paleontological museum of Trelew. Highly recommended.

Punta Tombo 2025 - Claudio, our driver, is a very safe driver. He is knowledgeable about the history of Patagonia, We had very enjoyable conversations. Unfortunately we had a flat tire, but it did not affect our plans very much. I would recommend booking a tour with Claudio.

Penguin colony and elephant seals - Great to be able to get close to the penguins and still respect their space, see elephant seals, young fox and ostriches on the day tour.

A lifetime experience - Simply magnificent, we took a tour in the cruise ship ,we drove about 1h30. A great experience being in with these impressive creatures . It was a lifetime experience.

MUST-WALK AMONG PENGUINS!! - Wonderful to be able to walk among the penguins!!
I went on this excursion with a group but each one buying their ticket could start walking the 1.5 kilometers to the sea out and then back. Each to his own tune. During the journey they can be seen nesting some penguins..others cross walking. Others are asleep. It's wonderful to be able to enjoy this. It is recommended not to touch them as they can bite and have many lice. Then to see them come in or be near the sea is very beautiful too. A worthwhile experience. Then you can eat something right there at affordable prices. And take some souvenier.

Fun to see so many Penguins - We took this tour while on a Viking Cruise and it was an awesome tour. The Penguins were amazing to see so many. It was easily thousands of Penguins on the beach. Many taking dips in the water to stay cool and some trying to hide in the sand as it was about 97F that day.
The one thing that we were told and also signs informing us, is the Penguins have the right way to cross the path, so stop and let them through. One spot 2 Penguins were coming to the path, and a few of us stopped and were waiting for them to cross. It was funny, as they kept looking like they were waiting for us to cross, looking to the left and right. They were more polite than some humans.

Up close Penguin Experience - We got to get so close with the Penguins and see them in their natural habitat. It was amazing to see that many penguins. Nacho was a fantastic tour guide. He gave us all the background we needed on the penguins themselves and we felt prepared to interact with them and understand when to give them space. The only reason I didn’t want to give it five stars is that the description said we would have the option of choosing the museum or welsh tea service and we could decide on the day of. We learned the evening before that was not the case and the only option was the museum. Unfortunately, this was after we had went to the museum on our own.
