- Weissenkirchen in Der Wachau - The parish church of Weißenkirchen in the Wachau Valley is a Roman Catholic church dedicated on the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The church stands prominently in the village with its impressive west tower visible from a distance. It is encircled by a significant 16th-century fortification featuring three round corner towers, embrasures, breech embrasures, key embrasures, and spy holes at the battlement level. On St. Martin’s Day, a holy mass is celebrated at 6:00 p.m., during which the new wine, brought by locals and placed before the altar, is blessed.
- Teisenhoferhof Wachaumuseum - After the blessing of the new wine at the Weißenkirchen parish church on St. Martin’s Day, a ceremony with wine tasting takes place at the Teisenhoferhof. This expansive, castle-like four-winged complex surrounds a wide, irregular courtyard with two-story arcades topped by a monopitch roof. The ground floor features deep round-arched niches on sturdy console pillars, while the upper floor boasts a continuous arcade with round-arched openings. Built by Heinrich Teisenhofer in the mid-15th century, the Teisenhoferhof is situated at the western base of the church plateau, with a massive, fortress-like west front comprising a crenellated blind wall towering over two stories high. The Teisenhoferhof houses the Wachau Museum, showcasing traditional Wachau costumes. During St. Martin’s Day festivities, locals don their traditional Wachau attire, with the stone-feathered hats being particularly striking.
