Along the way, they will navigate through numerous canals, observe a variety of bird species, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake’s “Amazon” area. The journey culminates at the charming fishing village of Karuc, where guests will disembark and ascend to a viewpoint offering a breathtaking view of the village and its mysterious access channel. After providing insights and capturing memorable photos at the viewpoint, the group will return to the boat and travel back to Virpazar via a different channel.

This extended boat tour of Lake Skadar starts in Virpazar and includes a visit to the historic fishing village of Karuč. The journey begins by cruising past the remnants of Lesendro Fortress and several small islands, before navigating through narrow channels lined with reeds and lush greenery. This serene section of the lake, often referred to as the “Amazon,” is celebrated for its tranquil waters, abundant birdlife, and pristine landscapes.

Departing from the main routes, the tour proceeds to Karuč, a quaint village nestled between hills and the lake. Upon arrival, guests enjoy a brief 10-minute walk to a viewpoint above the village, offering opportunities to admire the scenery, capture photos, and learn more about the locale.

Karuč is renowned for its numerous natural springs—approximately 54 in total—with some reaching depths of over 50 meters, while Lake Skadar’s average depth is around 5 meters. The village also served as the winter residence of Petar I Petrović Njegoš.
