- Drumheller - Known as the “Dinosaur Capital of the World,” Drumheller is an essential destination in Alberta’s Badlands, celebrated for its distinctive landscapes and rich paleontological heritage.
- The Hoodoos - These remarkable geological structures are tall, slender spires of rock formed over millions of years by wind and water erosion. Each hoodoo has a softer sandstone base topped with a harder rock “cap” that shields it from eroding as quickly as the surrounding material, with heights ranging from 5 to 7 meters.
- Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site - Located about 20 minutes southeast of Drumheller in East Coulee, the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is Canada’s most complete historic coal mine and features the last wooden coal tipple in the country, an impressive 8-storey structure built in 1937.
- World’s Largest Dinosaur - Affectionately named Tyra, the World’s Largest Dinosaur is a must-see landmark in Drumheller’s Badlands. This fiberglass-and-steel Tyrannosaurus rex stands an impressive 86 ft (26 m) tall and 151 ft (46 m) long, towering over the valley.
- Drumheller’s Little Church - Drumheller’s Little Church is a delightful micro-chapel located along the North Dinosaur Trail between the Royal Tyrrell Museum and the local golf course. Originally constructed in 1958 by local contractor Trygve “Tig” Seland and the ministerial association, it serves as a serene retreat for reflection and worship.
- Horsethief Canyon - Horsethief Canyon, approximately 16 km northwest of Drumheller along the North Dinosaur Trail on the east bank of the Red Deer River, is a dramatic Badlands landmark shaped by ancient river tributaries. Named after a 19th-century legend of horse thieves who allegedly hid stolen livestock here, the canyon features stunning stratified rock formations, deep coulees, and hoodoos—best viewed from the rim via a short, easy walk from the parking lot.
- Royal Tyrrell Museum - The Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller is a world-renowned center for paleontology, displaying over 800 fossils from its extensive collection of more than 160,000 specimens—the largest in Canada. Housed in striking architecture that harmonizes with the Badlands, the museum offers a journey through time across thirteen themed galleries, covering the origins of life to modern mammals.
