The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan constructed this mosque to signify historical importance and to embody the Islamic principles of peace, tolerance, and diversity. His vision was for the Grand Mosque to serve as a modern Islamic architectural reference, bridging the past with the present, and to establish a center for Islamic science and learning that reflects true Islamic values.
- Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi - The Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi (Arabic: قصر الإمارات) is a luxurious five-star hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Managed by Mandarin Oriental since January 1, 2020, the hotel project began in December 2001 and was initially operated by Kempinski from its opening in November 2005 until January 1, 2020.
Following the management transition, the Palace underwent a two-year renovation.
- Qasr Al Watan - In a move to honor the nation’s heritage, Sheikhs Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the United Arab Emirates) and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces) opened the palace to the public in 2019. Before its public opening, the palace was exclusively used for official functions, primarily hosting foreign state leaders and meetings of the country’s supreme council and federal cabinet. Even after opening to the public, it continues to serve these official purposes.
The palace was inaugurated for public access on March 11, 2019, in a ceremony led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai). In August, the palace was recognized by the travel and tourism website Hotel and Rest as one of the top 20 landmarks of art and culture worldwide.
