• Merrion Square - Begin the journey in the stunning Georgian quarter of the city, home to museums, galleries, libraries, and Parliamentary Dublin. Enjoy a brief tour of the highlights, exploring art, literature, and the treasures of the archaeological museum. Notable highlights include a Nobel medal for literature and WB Yeats’ passport! For those interested in James Joyce, a visit to Sweny’s, a chemist shop from 1847, is a must. It remains largely unchanged and is now a Joyce Centre run by volunteers, where you might even hear a song! Additionally, visit the statue of Oscar Wilde, a former resident of Merrion Square and renowned author, playwright, and poet, located in the park near his former home.
• Grafton Street - On the way to Dublin Castle, take an unusual route through Dublin’s central district. This path showcases a delightful mix of shops, pubs, restaurants, and heritage buildings, including some stunning Georgian ceilings. This part of the tour is also a great time to take a break in one of Dublin’s charming old pubs known for their excellent food, with plenty of recommendations available.
• Dublin Castle - Dublin Castle, the seat of British rule for over 700 years, is a fascinating complex of buildings. Tour the State Apartments, visit the former throne room, and see St Patrick’s Hall, where Presidents are inaugurated. For those interested in tax, there’s a Revenue Museum. The beautiful gardens at the rear offer a relaxing space, and the nearby restaurant at the Chester Beatty Museum is a client favorite.
• Saint Patrick’s Cathedral - On the way to St Patrick’s Cathedral, take a look at Dublin City Hall if it’s open. Pass by Dublin’s most famous ‘Fish and chipper’, Burdocks, with a list of famous patrons who have enjoyed this local favorite! (Chips might be known as French fries to some!)

Walk across St Patrick’s Park to visit Ireland’s largest Cathedral, dating back to 1195. This captivating place is filled with tombs, monuments, and a rich history, both joyful and somber, and holds great significance for many Irish people. Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels, served as Dean here for many years and is buried in the cathedral.

• St Stephens Green - Return to the central area via Marsh’s Library, Ireland’s oldest public library, founded by Archbishop Narcissus Marsh. Discover the cages used for borrowing books, reminiscent of a Harry Potter movie, and full of charm. The tour will guide you through intriguing streets, concluding at the starting point unless another destination is preferred. Flexibility is key to ensuring an enjoyable day, allowing you to experience the beauty of the city and have fun!
