During this experience, participants can try flying the aircraft under the guidance of a fully qualified flying instructor. Alternatively, they can simply relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of Devon from the comfort of the smooth and quiet motorglider. The large bubble canopy with sliding side windows provides an excellent opportunity for unobstructed aerial photography. The journey includes flying along the northern edge of the Blackdown Hills, passing historic sites such as Culmstock Beacon, Wellington Monument, and the former WW2 airfields of Culmhead & Upottery.
- Culmstock - Culmstock Beacon is a stone hut located on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. It was originally built as a fire beacon for signal communication to alert that the Spanish Armada had been sighted in the English Channel in 1588.
- Wellington Monument - Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the tallest three-sided obelisk in the world. Completed in 1820, Wellington Monument stands 175 feet tall.
- Culmhead - Culmhead Airfield, a former RAF station, is now disused.
- Upottery - RAF Upottery (also known as Smeatharpe) is a former WW2 airfield.

The 30-minute Motorglider Experience affords you a spectacular bird’s eye vista of Devon, along with the option to maneuver the controls and personally fly the aircraft, should you desire.
With your pilot being a certified flying instructor, you will have the chance to learn how to manage the aircraft’s controls and even potentially pilot us back to the airfield.
