Meeting Points at Jonny’s Palaces Tetebatu - Starting Point for Trekking
Tetebatu - It is advised to arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before 8 am to begin the ascent to Crater Rim Tetebatu. The journey starts from Tetebatu Village, situated at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The adventure begins at the Monkey Forest, a forest attraction in Tetebatu inhabited by monkeys. Here, visitors can observe both Black and Gray Monkeys. From this location, there is a clear view of Rinjani Mountain and Mount Sangkareang, which are the trekking goals.
After a 30-minute walk from Monkey Forest, trekkers will enter a dense forest. The path is natural and feels cool due to the many trees, as the sun is obscured by thick leaves. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, the first break point is reached, known as Pondok Belanda or Netherland Huts. Historically, this place may have been used by the Dutch to rest before continuing their climb to the Sangkareang Summit and Lake Segara Anak. Upon arrival at Tetebatu Rim, trekkers will stay overnight in tents.
Mount Rinjani National Park - Upon reaching the camping ground, trekkers will spend the night in tents.
Trekking to Rinjani’s Second Summit (Mt. Sangkareang)
Mount Rinjani National Park - After an early coffee or tea and a light snack at 4:00 am, the trek to the second summit of Mt. Rinjani (Mt. Sangkareang), which stands at 3,200 meters above sea level, will commence. In Lombok, it is known as Mount Sangkareang. The trek takes approximately 2 hours from the campsite. Upon reaching the second summit, trekkers can enjoy the sunrise, take in the stunning views, savor hot tea or coffee with biscuits, and capture photographs.
