- Birling Gap - Birling Gap is a serene and picturesque pebble beach nestled beneath the striking Seven Sisters cliffs. Visitors can access the beach via its well-known metal steps. Nearby are the historic Coastguard Cottages, which are unfortunately being gradually lost to the sea.
- Belle Tout Lighthouse Lookout - Constructed in 1832 and decommissioned in 1902, this site has served as a tea shop, a residence, was partially destroyed during World War II, and lovingly rebuilt in the 1950s. Owned and filmed by the BBC, it was relocated due to erosion and is now beautifully restored and renovated.
- Seven Sisters Country Park - The Seven Sisters are renowned chalk cliffs that are part of the Sussex Heritage Coast.
This area is a highly popular destination for both locals and international visitors who come to admire this stunning stretch of coastline between Seaford and Eastbourne.
Unfortunately, it is gradually being eroded by natural forces. It is estimated that 30-40cm of the coastal edge is lost to the sea each year, and the trip will include a discussion on this topic.
The park is a sanctuary for wildlife, particularly migratory birds that thrive in the mild British summers.
- Cuckmere Haven - This beach was frequently used by smugglers during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, with as many as 200 smugglers gathering there at times.
The coastguard cottages at Cuckmere Haven were constructed shortly after the National Coastguard Service was established in 1822 to combat smuggling. Today, they are among the most photographed homes in the UK.

The journey takes us across Seaford Bay, passing Seaford Head before arriving at the Coastguard Cottages at Cuckmere Haven. We’ll then continue along the Sussex Heritage Coast towards Birling Gap and the Belle Toute Lighthouse. But the adventure doesn’t stop there…!
We’ll then head even further east to the base of the world-famous Beachy Head Lighthouse. Located about seven miles east of our home in Newhaven Port, it stands an impressive 33 meters tall. The iconic red and white stripes look magnificent up close.
There will be plenty of time for photos before we head back home, a little further out to sea. During the summer months, we often spot Harbour Porpoises and occasionally Common Seals near the Beachy Head Lighthouse.
