Cloudy Cotopaxi - Our guide, Ricky, picked us up promptly at the meeting time in our hotel lobby. We did pay an extra fee to be picked up since we were staying near the airport and not directly in Quito. This was explained beforehand though and made the process easier than figuring out Uber/taxi into the city. Ricky safely navigated us through traffic to get out of Quito. He also gave us good information about Ecuador, Quito, and Cotopaxi along the way. Sadly, the weather was not cooperating today for our journey, so we didn't see the full beautiful volcano seen in photos. Ricky did his best to point out the glacier parts that we could see. He was also very patient on our way up when I needed to make a few stops to catch my breath. Reaching the refuge felt like a real accomplishment. We also got to support local businesses by enjoying some coca tea before the climb and lunch at a cute roadside restaurant afterwards. This place has farm animals, and we even got to feed the llamas carrots.
