- Cotopaxi National Park - Following the horseback ride, there will be a 35-minute drive from 4000 meters (12,000 feet) to 4550 meters (15,000 feet) to begin the hiking portion of the day.
- Cotopaxi Volcano - The hike to Basecamp at 4900 meters (16,000 feet) will take about 1 hour, leading to Refugio José Rivas, where food and hot drinks are available.
- Cotopaxi Volcano - Enjoy the Basecamp atmosphere before descending to the parking lot to begin the return journey.
- Cotopaxi National Park - Exit the park through the south gate, the tourist side, with a return trip of about 3 hours from the parking lot on the volcano.
