• Dr. Daniel Fisher House - The tour begins outside the historic Dr. Daniel Fisher House, which narrates the tale of Martha’s Vineyard and its whaling history. The tour will then lead participants step by step through Edgartown, sharing its rich history.
• Edgartown - As the tour progresses through the streets of this historic town, many houses will be visited, each with its own hidden stories. These include tales of “Jaws,” settlers, Native Americans, folklore and legends, ghosts, the Underground Railroad, and much more.
• Edgartown Town Hall - This historical site in downtown was also a filming location for “Jaws.” Discover the scenes filmed here and the reasons Martha’s Vineyard was chosen for the movie.
• The Federated Church of Martha’s Vineyard - The tour pauses at the church, where participants will learn about Frederick Douglass’s impactful speech and Edgartown’s role in the Underground Railroad.
• Giant Pagoda Tree - The tour will stop at the Giant Pagoda Tree, where participants will hear how a ship captain brought it here 150 years ago, its integration into the town, and the wealthy individuals who attempted to remove it.
• Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby, Inc. - Participants will stroll along the dock and learn about the fishing derby that made the island famous, the prizes, and the sharks that were caught.
• The Carnegie | Vineyard Preservation Trust - Discover the story of the Carnegie Library in Edgartown, how it was established, and the tale of the Patron Saint of Libraries.
