Great way to get to know Edinburgh. - Really nice and interesting tour. 14 stops where you can op on or off at your leisure. Very interesting audio guide, even a Horrible Histories version for kids.

Trolly recommend to hop in the green bus with Scott - We had a great time on the hop-on hop-off bus and purchased tickets for the blue, red, and green lines. The red route and the Horrible Histories commentary were especially great for kids and really helped them remember interesting facts in a fun way. However, the best part of our day trip was our experience with Scott in green bus. He was incredibly patient with our kids and shared the history of Edinburgh in such an engaging way that the stories—and even the songs—will stay with us forever. Truly a memorable experience!

Great rainy day outing! - This was the perfect for a first day…rainy day option. It allowed us to see where we wanted to go during our stay here. The friendliest bus drivers and the free headphones for the guided tour were especially nice. The cost was more than appropriate.

Excellent experience - Given the reduced stay time in the city, we left a day to explore Edinburgh through the tourist buses. In our case, it was an excellent decision, since it allowed us to have an extended view of the city, not just the center, always accompanied by excellent explanations through the audio guide, available in several languages, including Portuguese. On the blue circuit, there was no audio guide but the NÁDIA guide, which gave us a true lesson about the city, reporting everything in detail. Extremely friendly and professional, always worried if we were understanding your English, through an interaction that allowed us to ask the questions we wanted.

All Aboard! Use the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus - The Hop-On Hop-Off bus is a staple of most countries and Edinburgh’s is no exception. There are 3 different lines operating in Edinburgh, the standard red bus with headphones, the green line with a live guide and the blue regal tour which also has headphones. Customers can either pay for a 24 or 48 hour ticket for one of the lines or can choose a Grand Tour ticket for all 3. The other option is to pay for one ticket and then upgrade the next day, at which point, the 24 or 48 hours starts again. Each of the 3 tours goes to different parts of Edinburgh. The red and green lines have similar routes in the centre of Edinburgh. The Regal Line goes up to the Port of Leith and stops outside the Royal Britannia exhibit. The tours each run every 15 minutes with the last tours finishing at 6pm although if in doubt, ask your driver. If you want to switch busses it’s easier to do it at Waterloo Place where they all begin. The leaflets provided also explain that showing the hop on ticket at numerous attractions, shops and restaurants get you discounts including the Chocolaterium, Royal Britannia and more. For a great start in Edinburgh use the Hop on Bus.

Flexible city tour - We did two tours, once the red and once the blue. The buses leave every 15 minutes during the day, there was always enough space - depending on the weather in the covered or also in the free area. The bus drivers were friendly. Near the stops there are also employees who can be asked if there is any uncertainty. Through the audio guide (headphones are handed out when boarding) you get the information in the appropriate language. The price is reasonable as you can drive several laps and - depending on the schedule - can use the bus on two consecutive days (default is 24 hours).

Great thing to do for solo travel - Great tour, interesting would do again. Would have been helpful to know EXACTLY where to find the bus stops before hand.

Hopping fun on and off the Bus - Hopping on the bus was easy and went on the first bus of the day no people no crowds. Absolutely wonderful especially on top where you can take wonderful photos. They gave me a set of headphone that worked great and I listened to the entire audio which was informative and good. I liked it much better than a life person trying to be funny or just the noise of someone talking the whole trip. I stayed on the bus the entire time just taking photos and people watching. I stayed on for a 2nd trip and this time no audio and just enjoyed the nice weather. The ticket person was very nice and so was the bus driver. No attitudes, no screaming kids. ha ha But it really got crowded between when I started and the end of the 2nd trip. I mean busy busy on the bus and especially on the streets. Overall I had a really good time and I included a few photos to give you an idea of what the trip covers.

Ok for first timers in Edinburgh. Skip on subsequent visits - Decent tour, expensive compared to the excellent public transit system. Audio on the first bus was very good, the subsequent buses were older and the audio was not good. Download the Lothian bus and tram app, it’s cheaper and much better value.
