• Royal Mile - The tour begins at the Royal Mile, where the guide will provide an introduction to the city and the history of the Old Town.
• Mercat Cross - As the group walks along the Royal Mile, they will explore some of the city’s ‘closes’ and learn about their historical uses. A stop at the Mercat Cross will reveal its past role in public announcements and punishments. Can you spot the unicorn perched on top?
• St Giles’ Cathedral - Located in front of the Mercat Cross, St. Giles Cathedral will be the next stop. The guide will discuss the architecture of Scotland’s most significant church and delve into the history of the Presbyterian religion. The tour will also proceed to West Parliament Square to discuss the Act of Union.
• Writers’ Museum - Leaving St. Giles behind, the tour continues along the Royal Mile. The Heart of Midlothian will be pointed out, with an explanation of this mosaic heart’s significance. A short walk leads to Makars’ Court, adjacent to the Royal Mile. Here, with the Writer’s Museum as a backdrop, the guide will highlight Scotland’s most renowned writers, including Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson.
• Victoria Street - From the Writer’s Museum, the tour descends a few steps to reach Victoria Street, celebrated for its picturesque charm. As the group strolls down the street, they will encounter quirky shops and vibrant facades.
• Grassmarket - At the base of Victoria Street lies the Grassmarket, a large plaza known for its lively pubs and intriguing, albeit dark, history.
• Edinburgh Castle - From the Grassmarket, the tour ascends to the Castle Esplanade. As the group climbs the hill, they will notice the dark spire of the Hub and learn about its significance. Upon reaching the Castle Esplanade, breathtaking views of the city await, along with the site of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

• There will be 3 set of steps and 2 steep paths along the route.
• The tour will take place on the outdoor areas of the castle. After the guided visit you will have the time to visit the roofed buildings and the museums
