- Mercat Cross - As the group walks along the Royal Mile, they will explore some of the city’s ‘closes’ and learn about their historical uses. A stop at the Mercat Cross will reveal its past role in public announcements and punishments. Can you spot the unicorn perched on top?
- St Giles’ Cathedral - Located in front of the Mercat Cross, St. Giles Cathedral will be the next stop. The guide will discuss the architecture of Scotland’s most significant church and delve into the history of the Presbyterian religion. The tour will also proceed to West Parliament Square to discuss the Act of Union.
- Writers’ Museum - Leaving St. Giles behind, the tour continues along the Royal Mile. The Heart of Midlothian will be pointed out, with an explanation of this mosaic heart’s significance. - There will be 3 set of steps and 2 steep paths along the route.
- The tour will take place on the outdoor areas of the castle. After the guided visit you will have the time to visit the roofed buildings and the museums
