Stirling Castle - Located in Stirling, this is one of Scotland’s largest and most historically and architecturally significant castles. Perched on an intrusive crag, part of the Stirling Sill geological formation, it is surrounded by steep cliffs on three sides, providing a strong defensive position. Its strategic location, guarding the farthest downstream crossing of the River Forth until the 1890s, has made it a key fortification since ancient times.
