THE KINGDOM OF FIFE, PERTHSHIRE AND LOS CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK!

South Queensferry - This charming and scenic town features a High Street lined with colorful houses, reminiscent of a small Scottish Highlands village with 17th-century homes and traditional Scottish pubs.

Forth Bridge - A remarkable bridge and construction that earned it the title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the longest of its kind, spanning over 2.5 km.

Forth Road Bridge - Opened to traffic in 1964, this impressive bridge is part of the trio of bridges in Edinburgh. It replaced the ferry service that transported passengers between North and South Queensferry. It is one of the three longest bridges in the world of its type, surpassing the first in length.

Queensferry Crossing - Due to the Forth Road Bridge’s inability to handle all the traffic, this third bridge with a different structure and greater length was inaugurated in 2017. Each of the three bridges ranks among the longest in the world in their respective styles.

St. Andrews - Known as the birthplace of golf, a filming location for “Chariots of Fire,” and home to the third oldest university in the English-speaking world. We will stroll through its central streets and grab lunch.

St Andrews Cathedral - Explore the ruins of what was once the largest cathedral in Scotland and a pilgrimage site. The relics of the Apostle Saint Andrew, which gave the town its name and inspired the Scottish flag, were brought here.

St Andrews Castle - This fortress, once the residence of the Bishop of St. Andrews, played a significant role in defending the country against the English. We will take photos of its impressive ruins before continuing our itinerary.

University of St Andrews - Established in 1413, the University of St. Andrews is one of the most prestigious in the UK. We will take photos in its central courtyard, walk through some of its faculties, and visit the chapel of St. Salvator.

The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews - The oldest golf club in the world, which established the first rules for the sport. We will pass by its headquarters and the Old Course.

Dundee - Scotland’s fourth-largest city, with around 150,000 residents, is known for its graphic industry and as the city where the first computer sold to NASA was built. It also houses the famous ships Discovery and the Unicorn Frigate.

Discovery Point - The Discovery is a British-built sailboat launched in 1901 and constructed in Dundee’s shipyards. This research vessel, captained by Scott, is known for positioning the true South Pole in Antarctica, surviving two years trapped in the ice. We will take photos with this significant sailboat.

Dunkeld - A picturesque Scottish town that suffered during the Jacobite wars against the British army. It became important when King Kenneth MacAlpin brought the relics of St. Columba of Iona to its cathedral in the 9th century. He was the first Scottish king to unify the Picts, Vikings, and Irish peoples.

Pitlochry - A beautiful Victorian-style town where we will stroll along its High Street and enjoy a coffee. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited in 1846, sparking the town’s tourist boom.

Aviemore - A base town for adventure and mountain sports in the Cairngorms National Park, the largest in Scotland. We will take photos of its picturesque railway station.

Inverness - Known as the capital of the Highlands, this charming city center offers a place to rest near its castle and cathedral after a walk along the River Ness.

CALEDONIAN CANAL & LOCHABER; THE LAKES REGION!

Inverness - Depart from the capital of the Highlands to explore the beautiful Caledonian Canal and the Lake District of Scotland.

Caledonian Canal - Opened in 1822 and designed by Scottish engineer Thomas Telford, this canal connects the North Atlantic Ocean with the North Sea, crossing all of Scotland. We will follow its route through beautiful forests and lakes.

Loch Ness - Finally, we arrive at the immense Loch Ness. At nearly 38 km in length, 236 meters in depth, and 56.5 km in area, this lake contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. Welcome to Nessie’s home, where we will sail on a large catamaran.

Urquhart Castle - We will disembark at the ruins of the imposing Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness. Carbon dating indicates rocks here date back to the 7th century.

Fort Augustus - A picturesque town at the beginning of Loch Ness. Its level locks for small boats and pleasure yachts offer beautiful views, which we will enjoy along with lunch or coffee by the lake.

Glenfinnan Viaduct - A famous location for Harry Potter fans; the viaduct where the “Jacobite train” from the series runs. A pilgrimage site for fans.

Glenfinnan - We will also see Lake Shiel, the filming location for Hogwarts School of Magic. This is also a famous spot for fans of the series “Outlander,” where Prince Bonnie Charles Stuart landed in 1745 to start his war against the British army with the Highland clans.

Neptune’s Staircase - The longest locks in the UK and part of the Caledonian Canal. We will see them at Fort William.

Fort William - Known to fans of the historical series “Outlander” and as the UK’s capital of outdoor activities. We will rest at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, and visit some of the town’s typical taverns.

GLENCOE & LOCH LOMOND NATIONAL PARK & THE TROSSACHS!

Fort William - After enjoying incredible landscapes and a hearty breakfast, we will head towards the capital of Scotland, with a wonderful tour of mountains, lakes, and castles.

Glencoe - We enter the most spectacular high-altitude valley in Scotland, featured in movies and series such as “Braveheart,” “Rob Roy,” “James Bond 007,” “Harry Potter,” and “Outlander.” Welcome to the Valley of Tears, where we will share a sad story.

Glencoe Village - A picturesque town at the end of the valley, located on the shores of Lake Leven.

The Three Sisters - Impressive volcanic massifs, paradoxically green like much of Scotland.

Loch Tulla Viewpoint - A beautiful lake and viewpoint where we will take photos.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park - We will cross this spectacular national park, offering beautiful views.

Loch Lomond - The largest lake in Scotland and the UK. While it doesn’t contain more water than Loch Ness, it covers a larger area of approximately 70 square km.

Luss - A charming conservation village on the shores of Loch Lomond, which experienced a tourist boom from the filming of the British series “High Road” in the 80s. Originally a gathering area for Pictish Druids in the 6th century, we will learn more about its history and St. Kessog during our walk.

Stirling Castle - An impressive fortress and twin to Edinburgh Castle. Stirling Castle is where Mary, Queen of Scots, was crowned at just 9 months old. Known as “The Gateway to the Highlands,” it is said that whoever conquered this castle dominated Scotland. King Edward I of England attacked it in the 18th century, but William Wallace defeated him at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, as did Robert the Bruce with Edward II of England, maintaining Scotland’s sovereignty.

Edinburgh - We arrive in the “Athens of the North” and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the next three days, we will explore and enjoy Edinburgh in a more relaxed manner. The Christmas spirit and the ancient celebration of Hogmanay, with its Celtic and Viking origins, can be felt in every corner and tavern. Due to the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, some typical attractions like the Christmas Market and torchlight parade will not be held, so you will have free time to explore the city or join an alternative tour.

Settle into your comfortable hotel and take the Edinburgh Ghost Bus Tour through some of the city’s sinister corners.

HISTORICAL EDINBURGH TOUR!

Edinburgh - After an extensive tour of Scotland’s most beautiful and famous places, it’s time to enjoy the historical and mysterious capital of Scotland, where great works like “Sherlock Holmes,” “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde,” and “Harry Potter” were written.

We begin our comprehensive Historic Edinburgh walking tour!

Edinburgh Castle - Visit the world-famous fortress, the most besieged in Scotland and the UK. It houses the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, where Scottish monarchs were crowned. Human activity has been present here for over 7,000 years, and the castle has stood since at least the 12th century. Built on volcanic rock, it was once home to Mary, Queen of Scots.

Writers’ Museum - Dedicated to famous writers and novelists like Robert Louis Stevenson, Walter Scott, and poet Robert Burns. We will visit this charming 17th-century house/palace.

Greyfriars Kirk - A chilling cemetery gifted to Edinburgh by Mary, Queen of Scots, in the 15th century. Due to its proximity to the historic Edinburgh medical school, many bodies were stolen for research. J.K. Rowling wrote parts of “Harry Potter” here, drawing inspiration from the tombstones for character names. A sinister and important place.

Victoria Street - A beautiful and historic street with colorful houses, it inspired “Diagon Alley” in “Harry Potter” and served as a filming location for several movies.

The Elephant House - The famous café where J.K. Rowling wrote “Harry Potter.” We will take photos of the exterior.

Grassmarket - A historic market square where cattle and goods were sold since the Middle Ages. It is also known for the “ghosts” that haunt the square, as it was a place of execution in the Middle Ages. We will share the history of some famous pubs and taverns here.

St Giles’ Cathedral - The home of Presbyterianism and its founder John Knox. This spectacular building was originally commissioned by King David I of Scotland in the 12th century, with most of it dating from the 14th to 16th centuries.

Royal Mile - The Royal Mile or High Street in Edinburgh is an ancient street with buildings mostly from the 16th and 17th centuries. It connects the Palace with Edinburgh Castle. We will spend most of the day here, visiting many points of interest.

Scott Monument - A nearly 70-meter-high monument dedicated to the Scottish writer, located on Princes Street in the New Town.

Old Town - A UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will spend most of today’s historic tour. In the 18th century, the city was so crowded that no one could spend the night on the street under penalty of death. This led to the construction of the New Town.

New Town - Like the Old Town, this part of Edinburgh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 18th and 19th centuries with a Georgian design, it features spectacular buildings and gardens. We will visit some of its most important points.

Bakehouse Close - One of the many alleys on the Royal Mile, dedicated to baking in the Middle Ages. It was a filming location for “Outlander.”

The Scottish Parliament - Exterior views of the Scottish Parliament at the foot of Arthur’s Seat.

Canongate - In the 12th century, King David I of Scotland ordered the construction of Holyrood Abbey. We can still see its great ruins. This area has been the official residence of Scottish and later British monarchs. We will take exterior views as there is no time for more on this long day, but you can return during your free time.

Holyrood Abbey - We will see the large ruins of the 12th-century abbey from the outside.

EDINBURGH; HOGMANAY and Free time!

Edinburgh - On our last day, you will have a more relaxed day with free time.

You will have the morning free for shopping or visiting any remaining sites in the cultural capital of Scotland, a cradle of the Enlightenment in Europe with its famous 16th-century university.

The festive Christmas atmosphere of this Nordic country is in the air, especially today, December 31, Hogmanay, a holiday with Celtic and Viking origins. You will feel warmly welcomed in the streets, shops, and taverns.

In 2020, we will not celebrate the Christmas market or the torchlight procession, but we will gather to enjoy some pleasant moments together. Depending on your plans, you can join us for alternative activities or the New Year’s Eve Gala and Dinner.

Edinburgh - We will take care of you today, or you can enjoy free time. In a regular year, we would show you the Christmas Market, but in 2020, you can choose to enjoy the moments leading up to New Year’s Eve dinner with us, including alternative activities.
